Reborn From Oblivion (Nellie and Cameron) novel Chapter 1002

Morris didn’t want a dime from the Sharp family, so what right did they have to ask anything of him?

Jules looked awkward, clearly uncomfortable. “Nathan, it’s your father who’s failed you.”

Morris met his eyes. “You haven’t failed me.”

Then, his voice flat and quiet, he added, “Maybe the bond between us as father and son was just never meant to be strong. I can’t blame you for that.”

Jules felt a sharp twist in his chest, like something was squeezing his heart.

Everything he’d wanted to say—the emotional appeals to family, the pleas for Morris to give more for the Sharps—died in his throat.

“Get some rest,” Jules mumbled, then practically bolted from the room.

Stewart Estate.

The past several days had left Nathalie completely drained, running around searching for doctors, physically and emotionally spent. Today, though, she finally had a rare break. She curled up in bed, staring blankly at the ceiling.

Lizzy came in holding a package, setting it on the nightstand. “Sis, these are the pads you’ll need this month.”

Nathalie glanced at the box, then froze. It suddenly struck her—her period was late. No sign of it showing up.

She was always regular, could practically set a calendar by it. Normally, she’d get a little cramping a couple days beforehand.

But this month? Nothing.

Maybe it was just stress throwing off her cycle.

That had to be it.
