Chapter 5
Coleman held the gift box, feeling a fleeting, light touch across his heart.
It wasn’t pain, just a moment of difficulty breathing.
The bow on the box was meticulously tied, showing the effort and preparation she’d put into the gift.
Yet, he was the one with hidden, selfish intentions.

Before he could say anything, Jensina had already walked to the door, donned a beige wool coat, and wrapped a scarf around herself. Her oval face was mostly covered, revealing only her clear eyes.
Then, she left the house.
It was just that her walk seemed a bit off.
Coleman was about to ask, but heard Juanita wince, “Ouch, that hurts!”
He automatically shifted focus, helping her sit.“Do your knees hurt badly? I’ll take you to the hospital.”
“I don’t w
‘t want to go,” Juanita said, pressing her lips together, glancing at the box in his hand, and muttering, “You claim you’re not into her, but you’re clearly treasuring her gift.”
Coleman frowned, “Juanita, I owe her a lot.”
Juanita’s eyes widened, tears streaming down.“What about me? Cole, what are you thinking? Are you just going to let her bully Josh and me?”
“I said, Sina isn’t that kind of person.”
“Enough! Coleman, every word you say is defending her!” With that, Juanita, crying, pulled Joshua upstairs.
Coleman paused, slowly exhaling deeply.
He wasn’t sure what he was thinking.
He just didn’t want to hear anyone say a bad word about Jensina.
Light snow came and went for two days.
Jensina visited the clinic in the mornings. In the afternoons, some international peers came to learn the special treatment from Eduardo
Faulkner.
Eduardo was busy, so he passed the task to her at the last minute.
She finished work at 5 PM, rushed home to change, and applied some light makeup.
Jensina had a natural beauty, with bright eyes and white teeth. A little touch–up was all it took to draw attention.
As she went downstairs, she noticed the house was unusually quiet since she arrived home.
Juanita and Joshua seemed well–behaved today.
“Jensina.” Juanita’s cheerful voice called from behind as Jensina was putting on her boots.“So, who do you think he’ll pick, you or me?”
Jensina was taken aback and then smiled, “Juanita, I’m not sure what you mean.”
“Are you trying to play the seduction game at the Hardwick’s villa?”

“Jensina!” Juanita was so upset by Jensina’s blunt words that she ground her teeth.
Jensina calmly draped her cashmere coat over her shoulders and smiled, “I’m done talking to you. Cole is waiting for me.”
Juanita followed her gaze and saw Coleman’s car in the yard.
She was furious.

Juanita had agreed to let Coleman marry Jensina because she seemed manageable, but now Jensina was proving to be unpredictable.
Jensina slid into the car and checked with Coleman, “You haven’t been waiting too long, have you?”

“No, I just arrived,” Coleman replied, squeezing her hand. He noticed her skirt revealed a bit of her legs. He frowned, “Why are you dressed so lightly?
She smiled back, “We’re either in the car or at the Hardwick’s mansion. Both are heated.”
At the clinic, she would gently remind patients to stay warm, but she didn’t pay the same attention to herself.
Coleman was helpless with her.“We’ll see how you feel if you catch a cold.”
“I’ll just take medicine,” she replied.
Treating a cold was simple. One dose and she’d be mostly fine. She was well–practiced.
It had happened all the time in the past three years.
She couldn’t really expect Coleman to look after her. She couldn’t rely on anyone.
Seeing she didn’t value her own health, Coleman felt oddly uneasy. “It sounds like I don’t care about you.”
She paused, “Did you open the gift
I gave you yesterday?”
“Not yet,” Coleman said calmly.“It’s for my birthday. I’ll open it then.”
That was fine with her. It gave her plenty of time to prepare.
They didn’t have much to say, so they were quiet for the rest of the trip.
Coleman glanced over to see Jensina quietly watching the bustling traffic, lost in thought. She appeared gentle and harmless.
He couldn’t understand why Juanita had issues with her.
Coleman’s lips curved slightly. Just as he was about to start a conversation, his phone rang. “Mr. Hardwick, Ms. Galvan is on a blind date,” the
caller said, his tone neutral.
Jensina heard it.
The car’s atmosphere instantly became tense. Coleman was visibly struggling to contain his

anger.
He ended the call and looked at Jensina, his demeanor calm but his words firm.“Sina, an urgent matter has come up. I can’t join you for the family dinner.”
Jensina didn’t inquire about the emergency.
It would only make her look more awkward.
“Got it,” she said softly.“Patrick, stop the car up ahead.”
The car pulled over.
Coleman didn’t move. Jensina looked at him, puzzled, and said, “Cole, you need to get out. We can’t stay parked here long.”
“Okay,” he replied, a bit taken aback. Seeing her gentle expression, he couldn’t argue. He had to get out of the car himself.
