Chapter 2
Gertrude felt like her mind had gone blank.
She was surprised to hear Jensina say such a thing.
But what truly stunned her was how far Coleman would go to humiliate her.
Gertrude muttered a curse and said, “Forget the courier. I’ll bring it to you myself and then head back for overtime.”
Why let a courier handle it when she could get it done herself–and faster?
Jensina ended the call, surprised at her own straightforwardness.
She’d been holding it in for too long, and it was suffocating..
Coleman’s words at the club that night rang true. He’d never slept with her.

It was hard to believe, but after three years of marriage, she remained a virgin.
At first, she thought there might be something wrong with Coleman.
But then, she caught him in the study multiple times, using a photo album for self–pleasure.
His muffled sounds were like slaps to her face.
Once, he noticed her. He hugged her, whispered in her ear, “I’m sorry, Sina. The thought of hurting you that way just didn’t feel right. I could only do that with your photos…”
Ironically, the usually shy Jensina blushed.
But that night, back in Los Angeles after taking her fever meds, she mustered the last of her energy to go to the study and force open the locked
cabinet.
Inside was the photo album, packed with pictures of Juanita, vibrant and captivating.
Every one of her smiles was cherished by Coleman.
Jensina felt like a fool.
Lost in thought, she recalled how she used to trail after Coleman.
In fact, she wasn’t really trailing after him.
It was just because Stanley Herring was always with him.
Seeing him often, she began to think, “It’d be nice to marry him.”
Coleman had a great temperament, was patient and kind, and always brought her a gift when he visited Stanley.
He was the most courteous among Stanley’s friends.
This courteous gentleman preferred to pleasure himself with Juanita’s photos rather than sleep with his own wife, who was right there.
Jensina was surprised by Gertrude’s speed.
She had just woken up and finished washing up, not yet heading downstairs, when the doorbell rang.
If the courthouse had still been open, Gertrude probably would’ve dragged them there.
Jensina took the agreement and felt a bit of relief, but then a sharp noise from upstairs made her pause.
Susana hurried downstairs, looking pale, hesitated, and said, “Mrs. Hardwick…”
“What happened?” Jensina asked.
“Josh broke the family photo in your room, Susana said.
Jensina initially thought it was just a frame, but then Susana handed her some pieces.

Jensina’s face drained of color.
When she was five, her parents died, leaving only this photo.
It was her last connection to them.
Jensina clutched the torn photo and strode upstairs.
Juanita was just stepping out of Jensina’s room, holding Joshua.
Jensina looked at her coldly.“Juanita, you were in my room.”
She looked at Joshua.“Do you know what Santa will do to you for Christmas in a few days?”
