Chapter 1
Three years into Jensina Warren’s marriage with Coleman Hardwick, his older brother passed away, and she asked for a divorce.
Coleman frowned, looking confused. “Just because I took a slap for Nita?”
“Nita,” Jensina echoed in her mind, her heart twisting. “So casual. So intimate. Would anyone address his sister–in–law like that?”
She scoffed.“Yeah. Just because of that.”
Of course, it wasn’t the only reason–just the last straw.
The red mark from that slap stood out on Coleman’s handsome face.
At the time, he shielded Juanita without hesitation. Even his own family was surprised.
But not Jensina. Not one bit.
It was their wedding anniversary three days ago.
Jensina’d prepared a surprise and flew to the city where he was on a business trip. But before she could reveal herself, she overheard his conversation with a friend.
“Cole, skipping your anniversary every year isn’t right. You’re hurting Sina.”
Coleman let out a frustrated sigh.“You think I want to? If I don’t, she’ll never believe I haven’t touched Jensina.”
“She?”
His friend, who had just defended Jensina, caught on and snapped, “You mean Juanita? Seriously, Coleman? She’s married to your brother, and they even had a kid. You still haven’t let go?”
Then he added, “By the way, you treated Jensina like crap. Aren’t you worried Stanley will come after you?”
“He won’t, Coleman replied, rubbing his fingers.
“When Jensina and I got married, they fell out. They even blocked each other on WhatsApp for three years.”
Jensina quietly left the room, her hands shaking slightly.
She had always known Coleman harbored someone else in his heart.
She’d asked around, but no one ever told her who it was.
She’d suspected many names–but never Juanita–the woman she’d respected as her sister–in–law for years!
What a cruel joke!
It was pouring rain when Jensina left the club. But she didn’t flinch, letting the rain soak her.
She took the red–eye back to Los Angeles and fell ill as soon as she landed.
A fever gripped her for two days. Just as she was recovering, Lyman Hardwick, Coleman’s older brother, died in an accident.
Seven days later, his funeral was held in LA.
During the past few days at the Hardwick’s mansion, she only slept a few hours each night.
As she left the cemetery after the funeral, Jensina was both dazed and exhausted.
The chauffeur, Patrick Cabrera, was waiting at the entrance.
As soon as Jensina got in, she closed her eyes. “Patrick, take me home.”
“Not going to the Hardwick’s mansion?” asked Patrick.
“No.”
The funeral was over, but the drama wasn’t.

Worried she might refuse, he added, “Didn’t you say you wanted kids? You can practice with Josh.”
Jensina nearly laughed–out of sheer disbelief.
But she didn’t, as doing that in a cemetery seemed inappropriate.
Coleman was sending Juanita and Joshua home with her while he faced his family’s anger alone.
What a hero!
Back home, she found the guest room already prepared. Guessed Coleman must’ve called the housekeeper Susana Anthony in advance.
Jensina shrugged as she thought, “Saves me the trouble.”
After a shower, she collapsed into bed and soon fell asleep.
When she woke, it was 9 PM.
As she reached for her phone, a call from her best friend came through.
“I’ve drafted the divorce papers like you asked. Should I email them to you?”
“Thanks, Gerty. Just send them by courier,” Jensina replied, her voice still soft from sleep.
“Such a hurry. Are you sure about this?” Gertrude Lawson asked, her voice lined with concern.
She’d handled enough divorces to know when someone was acting on impulse.“Coleman isn’t a great husband, but in some ways…”
Jensina switched on the light, sat up, and her thoughts became clearer. “I’m sure, Gerty. He masturbated to photos of another woman.”
