Chapter 18

Jensina’s gaze swept over Juanita, who was following behind Coleman. Her voice was calm as she said, “No need, Gertrude’s waiting for me.”
“Jensina…”
Coleman, noticing something was off, grasped her wrist and said, “Wait a minute,”
Jensina tried to pull away, but he didn’t budge. He turned to Juanita and said, “You go ahead to the car.”
“Alright, you two talk it out.”
Juanita smiled graciously but clenched her fist, throwing Jensina a displeased look before getting in the car.
Coleman’s thumb brushed over the inside of Jensina’s wrist as he carefully said, “About the hospital incident, you know Nita agreed not to press charges, right? I promised her that the move would be delayed.”
It was clear that Jensina was simply using her own tactics against Juanita, yet he now acted as if Juanita was being magnanimous, not holding a grudge against Jensina.
And he acted as if he had reluctantly agreed to let Juanita stay at home, all for Jensina.
It seemed as though everyone was paying the price for Jensina’s impulsiveness and unreasonable outbursts.
“What if I wanted to report it?” Jensina asked flatly.
“What?”
“I was pushed down that high staircase, bleeding and unconscious. Am I not allowed to report it?”

Jensina’s gaze was calm as she met his eyes and continued, “If I had called the police that day, what would you have done? I know you would’ve been thinking about how to help Juanita clean up the mess.”
She had always found it amusing–after everything that happened, her husband’s first instinct was to think about how to protect someone else.
Coleman froze for a moment, a look of stunned realization on his face. Jensina caught the shift in his expression, but she wasn’t surprised. She spoke plainly.
“As long as you wanted it, even if she had called the police, you would have found a hundred ways to fix things. The reason you agreed to let her stay here isn’t because of me. It’s for your own sake.”
Coleman was doing it for himself, wanting to stay close to Juanita, to have her by his side.
But he just let her bear the blame.

Standing at 5’5“, Jensina felt small in front of him, but her demeanor was unyielding, her voice steady and composed as she laid out the truth.
Coleman had no retort. He seemed momentarily dazed. The sweet, obedient girl he had known was now speaking with sharp clarity.
He could have brushed off anyone else, but when he met Jensina’s calm, clear eyes, he couldn’t lie to her.
The rain was picking up. Coleman walked to the car, opened the trunk, and pulled out an umbrella. He walked back to her, placing it gently in her hand.
“Give me some time. I’ll settle things with Nita.”
Jensina knew exactly what she wanted to say. She smiled slightly and asked, “Can you really cut ties with her?”
Her sharp words ignited a spark in Coleman, who frowned and replied coldly, “Sina, she’s my sister–in–law, the mother of my nephew. How could I just cut ties with her? Not everyone is without…”
He stopped mid–sentence.
Jensina’s slender, pale fingers gripped the umbrella. Her lashes fluttered as she said softly, “Not everyone is without family. I’m an orphan, right?”
In the silence that followed, Jensina wasn’t curious about his answer. She bent down, placing the umbrella next to his feet, and turned to walk

towards Gertrude’s car.
Watching her retreat, Coleman felt a sudden, inexplicable unease. His anger evaporated in an instant, and he called out, “When will you be home?”
Jensina paused, not looking back.“Later, the clinic’s too busy these days.”
She had no intention of going back.
After all, Coleman was busy. During the days she was abroad, he didn’t even notice that she hadn’t returned home.
She had only promised Estella not to mention the divorce to Coleman–not to continue living under the same roof.
On the way back to Oakwood Villa, Coleman sat in the backseat, staring blankly out of the window.
Juanita reached out, tapping his arm, “Cole, what are you thinking?”
Since they got in the car, he had seemed distracted, his thoughts clearly elsewhere.
Juanita couldn’t help but wonder what Jensina had said to him.
“It’s nothing,” Coleman replied, snapping back to reality. He pinched his brow as the car passed by the clinic where Jensina worked.
Later that morning, Estella, probably afraid that Jensina might cause complications, quickly arranged for everything. She had the property transfer done and even arranged for a representative to accompany her to finalize the paperwork.
Gertrude, wary of any potential schemes, had taken the day off to accompany her. To her surprise, the process went smoothly with no issues at
