No longer a pushover (Noelle and Cedric) novel Chapter 1497

By now, though the Liddells knew something was wrong, there was nothing they could do. Carl had just played them all.

Blake looked toward the door in worry, and all his thoughts were on Noelle. Meanwhile, Carl had taken her back to the treatment room. He watched as she lay down before handing her some medicine.

"Is there going to be trouble tonight?" she asked uneasily.

"You don't have to worry. I've made the proper arrangements, and I won't let that man anywhere near you."

Deep down, Carl was thrilled, especially knowing Cedric was probably already shark food. Once the latter was gone and he drove the others away, there would be no one left to disturb them.

Noelle didn't think twice about swallowing the pills, and Carl stayed until she drifted off to sleep before slipping out.

Outside, he turned to Emery and asked, "Where are they?"

"All unconscious. Everything's going as planned."

"Good. Keep it that way."

He stepped over to the window and saw the ring of boats surrounding the island, their lights lit up like a silent taunt. Cedric's men had been in hiding and too afraid to show themselves. But now, they were brazenly docked all around the island.

A flicker of cold fury flashed in Carl's eyes at the thought of how they were basically begging for trouble.

Since his rebirth, everything had gone his way except for Noelle and the nuisance of the Greene family. But Cedric was likely dead by now, and without him, the Greenes were nothing to worry about.
