After agreeing to Carl's request, both Donovan and Wyatt returned to the top floor, where the rest of the brothers had gathered.
As soon as Donovan returned, Frank asked, "How was it? You don't seem to be in a better mood after visiting Noelle."
Donovan gave him a bitter smile. "It was just as you said. I don't feel all that good even after seeing Noelle smiling so sweetly at us."
Wyatt held onto his injured leg and said, "A lie can't be kept up forever. Noelle actually thought that my leg ended up like this because of Cedric. She even looked like she genuinely felt sorry for me."
He should be the one apologizing to her.
He realized that he should never have been tempted by Carl's plan. If they had not gone along with it, none of this would have happened.
Frank was not even surprised by how Donovan and Wyatt were reacting. He had been through the same thing after all.
He patted Wyatt on the shoulder and said, "It's actually a good thing to feel guilty about this. It means that you're not beyond redemption.
"Anyway, let's stick to the plan for now. We'll wait until Noelle's condition stabilizes, then work with Cedric to get her out of here. For now, we just need to make sure that Carl doesn't suspect a thing."
Otherwise, they would not be able to work together with Cedric later on.
Donovan turned to Blake and said, "Are you really not going to see Noelle? She asked about you earlier and said that you're the only one she hasn't seen yet."
"I'm not going." Blake's tone was firm. He could not bring himself to see Noelle because he did not want to see or lie to her.
Donovan had a bitter smile. "Maybe you're the only one making the right choice here. Anyway, have you heard anything about Cedric? Has he been found yet? Do they still have no trace of him after so long?"
