Cedric held Noelle in his arms. "I'll make Carl hand over the antidote. I won't let you forget about everything that's happened, and I definitely won't let you forget me."
Noelle could feel herself falling apart mentally. "Carl's not going to agree to that. He's insane! He's a control freak. He wouldn't have done this in the first place otherwise."
She had never expected Carl to actually go so far.
Tears streamed down her face as she clung to Cedric. She choked on her own words as she continued, "I really, really hate Carl. I hate all of my brothers. I wish they were all dead. Why did they have to do this to me?!"
She already died at their hands in her past life. After she was reborn, she built up her current life on her own and even succeeded in avenging her parents.
Noelle could not fathom why the Liddells just would not stay out of her life. She could not understand why they insisted on dragging her back to hell.
Cedric held onto her tightly. "Don't be scared. You still have us with you. We'll always be by your side. We will never let the Liddells hurt you again."
Noelle started to break down. "It's useless. Carl said that he wanted me to forget everything.
"My personality might not even be the same after I lose my memories. I can't even imagine what I'd become afterward. I can't even imagine what kind of lie they would have made up for me to live in for the rest of my life if you hadn't found me in time."
Cedric's heart was on the verge of shattering into pieces. He continued holding onto her as he replied, "We can always start over, even if you really do forget about all of us. So long as you're still with us, we'll tell you about everything that happened."
Eugene chimed in from the side. "That's right. Mia kept saying that she'll still be your best friend even if you forget about her. She'll stay by your side and help you remember everything one step at a time."
Cedric wiped the tears from Noelle's face and continued, "Hear that? We'll always be with you no matter what happens."
Hearing their reassurance only made Noelle's heart ache even more. She was just one step away from happiness, only to be dragged down by the Liddell family once more.
Her face was filled with hatred as she replied, "I hate the Liddells. I really, really, really hate them. I'm going to get my revenge on them."
