No longer a pushover (Noelle and Cedric) novel Chapter 1363

Noelle gave Carl a look of disbelief and asked, "Are you saying you know where the money is hidden? Why didn't you say something earlier?"

"Because I didn't expect things to turn out this way. You know how much has changed recently, and I couldn't be sure what would or wouldn't happen."

Upon hearing that, Noelle instinctively glanced at Cedric in unease. After all, she still hadn't revealed her deepest secret to him, and with what Carl had just said, anyone listening might start to suspect something.

Instead of dwelling on it, she pressed. "So, where is the money?"

"Ivy has a son named Eason. You should be able to get some clues if you approach him.

"Ivy is endlessly greedy, and since she laid such an elaborate scheme, there was no way she'd share the spoils with her people. She'd planned to pocket most of the money herself."

Noelle finally understood why Ivy returned to that island to resume her business and run another pharmaceutical scam on her own. It was probably because she'd fallen out with her partners and wanted to start anew.

Carl turned to her and said, "I'll be leaving tomorrow night. You won't mind coming home for one last dinner, would you?"

Noelle nodded. "I'll be there on time."

With that, Carl nodded and turned to walk away. He never asked a single question about Cedric.

As Noelle watched him leave, she called out, "Are you leaving just like that? Is he alright now?"

But Carl didn't answer. Noelle figured that might be a good thing. If there was a problem, Carl wouldn't have stayed silent.

She turned back to Cedric and said, "You need to get better soon. Magnus is practically burning out trying to keep the company afloat alone, and I haven't seen him come home for a meal in days."
