"Just tell me what you need my help with," Salena said.
"Hand over the Cantrell family to Mia's control. After all, she's the rightful heir, isn't she?" Noelle demanded.
Salena's expression shifted, showing clear reluctance. Seeing that, Noelle pulled her hand away. "You're on your own then."
"But Mia's too young," Salena said, trying to argue.
"You're old, and yet you managed to get the entire Cantrell family swindled. Mia is the only one who came out of this unscathed, and if the money can't be recovered, you're all gonna count on her to survive."
A chill ran down Salena's back as she realized Noelle was right. If they lost everything, Mia might be their only lifeline.
Noelle added, "You'd better think about it. If you take too long, Mia won't need any of you anymore."
With that, she turned and left. Salena stood frozen in place as her body slowly went cold with dread.
…
After she left the police station, Noelle got into a car with Mia and Eugene, who'd just arrived.
"Let's go," Mia said.
"The Cantrells are inside."
"I know, but I'm not planning to deal with them. There's no helping those who are determined to dig their own graves. It's finally my turn to get a little justice," Mia replied, smiling slyly.
Then, she added, "Plus, I'm no saint. This is a golden chance, and if I play it right, I might take full control of the Cantrell family."
"Exactly what I was thinking. I told Mrs. Cantrell the conditions, and with how long the refund process may take, you have plenty of time to set things in order."
