No longer a pushover (Noelle and Cedric) novel Chapter 1362

Just then, Eugene received a phone call. After hanging up, he turned to Noelle and Mia. "You two should come out for a moment."

Deep down, Noelle had a bad gut feeling. She followed him out and quietly asked, "What happened?"

"We just got news from abroad that most of the money in the account is gone."

"That's impossible. We had men monitoring that account around the clock, and the full amount was transferred. How could more than half of it just vanish?"

"We thought the same, but it's a fact that the foreign account has a figure that's cut down by more than half. Seems like Ivy had a backup plan all along, or she never intended to share the money with her partners from the start."

Noelle turned to look back into the ward, only to see a triumphant smile on Ivy's face. The latter said, "You've probably received the news by now, haven't you? Only a fraction of the money is left in that account, and I've moved the majority somewhere else."

How could they have been so naive to think she hadn't prepared for this?

Noelle walked in and stared her down. "What kind of trick did you pull?"

"So your grand plan didn't work, huh? Looks like I won."

Mia stepped forward and chimed in, "Don't forget Eason is still with us. Aren't you supposed to care for your precious son? Would you bear to see him suffer for your greed?"

"But you'd never kill him, so you have no leverage over me now," Ivy said with certainty. "So what if you spent all that time laying out your trap? You couldn't harm me, could you?

"That money's gone, and soon, people will throw themselves off rooftops and take their lives. That's the price they pay for once looking down on me."

Noelle sharply refuted her. "They looked down on you because you chose to sink into crime."
