Chapter 509
“Damn it!” Selena swung her arm, sweeping the vanity table without thinking. A perfume bottle fell and shattered, its sharp scent spreading across the floor. She hurled pillows, blankets, and bolsters into the corners of the room, then grabbed the back of a chair, nearly throwing it against the wall.
“Unbelievable!” she cursed loudly. “That girl actually dared to stand up to me.”
She stopped abruptly, staring at her reflection in the mirror. Her face was flushed, her eyes wild. For a moment, she looked like a stranger to herself-but instead of sobering her, the sight only fueled her anger further.
A soft knock sounded at the door.
“Ms. Selena?” a servant’s hesitant voice called out.
Without waiting for an answer, the door opened slightly. The servant stepped in, a tray in her hands-then froze. Her eyes widened at the shattered bottle on the floor, the pillows scattered everywhere, and Selena standing there, breathing hard.
“Y-your breakfast, ma’am,” she said nervously, almost in a whisper. She clearly hadn’t expected to see a scene like this.
Selena snapped her head around. “Get out.”
“M-Ma’am, I was just—”
“Get out. Now!” Selena shouted, her voice exploding as she pointed roughly at the door. “Take that with you and don’t come back unless you’re called!”
The servant flinched. The tray trembled slightly as she hurried to turn around, bowing repeatedly. “I’m sorry, ma’am.”
The door closed quickly behind her. Selena stood in the middle of the room, panting, her jaw tight, her eyes blazing with anger that still hadn’t burned itself out-anger now searching for its next target.
it!”
Selena drew a harsh breath, then grabbed her phone. Her hand shook as she scrolled to a name she knew all too well. She sat down on the edge of the bed, not caring about the mess she’d made.
The call connected quickly.
“Harold,” she said without preamble. “We have a problem.”
“What happened this time?” Harold’s voice came through calm, almost relaxed. “I was expecting to hear excitement in your voice.”
“That girl is starting to rebel,” Selena snapped. “She dared to talk back to me in front of them. She humiliated me.”
There was a brief silence on the other end. Then Selena heard a low, amused laugh.
“What are you laughing at?!” she snapped.

“Calm down,” Harold replied. “Your emotions are going to be your downfall.”
“I’ve tried to be patient, Harold. But that girl has completely exhausted my patience.”
“I think this is happening because Eli has been interacting with Riana,” Harold said thoughtfully. “You said Riana treated her well, didn’t you?”
Selena fell silent.
“She’s still a child. She’ll naturally feel safe around people who seem to support her. That sense of safety gives her the courage to resist you,” Harold continued. “You need to make her understand her position.”
“You’re right,” Selena said quickly. “She must be feeling that way in this house. She needs to be taught a lesson -so she understands who’s in control.”
“Don’t go too far,” Harold warned. “Just apply the right amount of pressure. A measured kind of fear.”
Selena nodded, even though Harold couldn’t see her. “I know. I just… I won’t let her ruin everything we’ve built.”
“Good,” Harold said. “Focus on why you’re there. In that house, your goal is almost within reach. Don’t let a moment of emotion make you lose the opportunity you’ve been waiting for. Remember-what should have been yours in the past, you must claim this time.”
“Alright.”
“Be ready. There’s going to be an even bigger spectacle tomorrow morning. The news about you and Eli is still everywhere.”
Selena’s anger slowly ebbed, replaced by a thin, satisfied calm. “Yes. I’ve been keeping an eye on the coverage. You really do have very capable partners.”
Harold laughed softly.
“I can’t wait to see what kind of news airs tomorrow. Does it have anything to do with Daven?”
“Yes. This is the point where you can strike at Althea. Daven’s name, for now, is nothing more than a name.”
Selena smiled in satisfaction and ended the call, her chest feeling noticeably lighter. He was right. She had to teach Eli a lesson-make her understand who she should fear.
She had no idea that behind the wall, behind what looked like an ordinary decorative panel, a small device was working silently capturing signals, logging timestamps, and pinpointing locations.
Elsewhere, far from that house, Cale studied a screen with a faint smile. A digital map in front of him showed a steadily pulsing dot-Harold’s position, accurate down to the meter.
“He really hasn’t moved at all,” Cale murmured.
One of his team members stood beside him. “The signal is consistent, Mr. Miller. The last call was recorded clearly. I’ve already made a duplicate to be used as evidence.”
Cale nodded. “Keep monitoring. No one makes a move. And what about updates from Detective Aaron’s team?”

“He’s made a few movements, but nothing particularly suspicious so far.”
“Make sure he doesn’t slip out of our sight.”
