Chapter 490
“I asked someone to keep an eye on Selena. You knew that, right?”
Ah-right. One of Erick’s trusted people had been assigned to monitor Selena and her movements closely. “So what did he find?”
“There was absolutely no change in her usual routine. Selena neve met anyone else. All she did was shop, take care of herself, and pick Eli up. That’s it-except yesterday… Eli came home late.”
Cale’s brow furrowed deeply.
“It turns out the girl met with Josh.”
“They met? For what reason?”
“I haven’t asked Josh about it yet. But if Josh has seen the news, I’m sure he’s feeling the pressure.”
Cale rubbed his temples, trying to ease the frustration building in his head.
“Eli didn’t go to school this morning. That’s why the driver who usually takes them back and forth wasn’t on duty today. And yet —this still happened. You know what that means, right?”
“Selena isn’t acting alone. Someone must be helping her. There’s no way she could pull off a plan this calculated without assistance.”
“You’re right,” Nathan said, a faint smile touching his lips. “And in the end, we’ve agreed on who the mastermind is, haven’t we?”
“It’s just that I’ve lost Harold’s trail.”
“And I think this is the perfect moment to draw Harold out by the tail.” Nathan’s words on the other end made Cale straighten instinctively.
“What… do you mean, Dad?”
On the screen still playing nearby, Selena continued speaking-demanding justice and recognition. Eli sat beside her, silent, pale, like a doll on display. She looked restless, as though everything her mother was doing made her deeply uncomfortable.
“I’ll release an official statement,” Nathan said after hearing the brief report. “I’ll play along with their game. They want me to acknowledge Eli, don’t they? Then I’ll give them that-along with dignified clarification. Invite the press, if necessary. And that woman’s greatest wish is to step into this house, isn’t it? Then we’ll give her exactly what she wants.”
For a moment, Cale fell silent. Even Chris, standing beside him, stopped speaking. They exchanged glances, stunned by their father’s words.
“You’re… serious, Dad?”
“Selena is clearly someone with strong ties to Harold. And if we want to lure Harold out, shouldn’t we take the bait he’s thrown?”
The corner of Cale’s mouth slowly lifted. “Alright. I understand.”
“Besides, Daven still has a final card he can play to bring them all own, doesn’t he?”
Cale nodded lightly. For the first time after several exhausting day, he felt a small weight lift from his mind. “Yes, Dad. And you’re right-watching that woman from a distance won’t be enogh. We put her inside the cage she wants. After that? We make sure she reveals her true intentions.”
A low laugh sounded from Nathan on the other end.
“I’ll prepare the press conference you need. When do you want it?
“As soon as possible.”

“Alright.”
“I’ll contact PR and the legal team,” Chris said, already pulling out his phone.
“Then we head back to SunCity. But tell Detective Aaron to keep tracking Harold,” Cale added as he got ready. “We’ll split up at the border-I want to see Daven first.”
“Got it.” Chris gave a faint grin.
And for the first time since that morning, amid the chaos so carefully engineered by someone else, the Miller family began to move-not in panic, but in controlled, deliberate anger.
“You really think this makes you superior, Harold?”

“I have new information, Mr. Cale.”
Those words immediately drew Cale’s full attention to Aaron-the private detective Daven trusted. As expected, Aaron worked fast, thoroughly, and reliably.
Inside the van, the dim overhead light cast a faint glow as the tablet in Aaron’s hands displayed a moving marker.
“One of my staff found him.”
Cale studied the screen closely. “Isn’t this the location where we were supposed to ambush that bastard?”
“That’s correct, Mr. Cale.”
Cale still didn’t fully grasp why Aaron was showing him a moving point. The motion was slow, but unmistakably deliberate.
“CCTV footage confirms that Harold did leave the building and move quickly,” Aaron explained. “Some of the routes he took aren’t covered by cameras-or the cameras there are damaged. He read the surrounding area very carefully. I believe he scoped the location long before deciding to stay there.”
Cale continued watching the red dot. “But… he hasn’t gone far from the original location, has he?”
“I can’t say whether it’s a calculated decision or simply because he likes the area,” Aaron replied. “But my team confirmed that after spending several hours on the outskirts of the city, he doubled back. His movement radius never exceeded five to seven kilometers from the initial spot.”
Cale leaned back, sharp eyes fixed on the slowly moving dot. “So he didn’t run. He’s just testing whether we can catch him.”
“Yes,” Aaron said from the front seat. “The pattern is neat and carefully planned. He’s deliberately circling the same area, taking random routes to make sure no one stays on his tail for too long.”
Chris glanced at his watch. “If that’s the case, he’ll go back to the original place.”
