Chapter 491

Cale exhaled slowly. “I think… we have no choice but to play along with the game that’s already been forced onto my family.”

Aaron’s brow furrowed deeply. “What do you mean, sir?”

“You said you have people monitoring Harold’s unusual movements, didn’t you?”

“That’s correct, Mr. Cale.” Aaron still didn’t quite grasp where Cal was headed with this.

“Assign more personnel to him.” Cale pointed to a moving marke-believed to be Harold’s current position.

Aaron nodded without hesitation. “Location, timing, routes, surrounding CCTV footage-everything was encrypted, but we’ve cracked it.”

Cale studied the rows of files-street camera footage, parking transactions, fragments of phone signals. “This is valid, right?”

“Absolutely. One hundred percent,” Aaron replied firmly. “Enough to stage an ambush whenever we want.”

“Good,” Cale said quietly. “Don’t touch him yet.”

Chris raised an eyebrow. “Are you sure?”

“Yes.” Cale stared into the darkness ahead. “He wants to see us react. If we arrest him now, he’ll only be punished for a few charges-serious ones, yes, but still not enough. And…” A faint, cold smile touched his lips. “I want to play the fool for a while longer. Just like he did when he fooled us with his escape routes.”

Aaron nodded in understanding. “I’ll deploy additional personnel as requested. Keep a safe distance and take no action without

orders.”

“And make sure he doesn’t notice,” Cale added. “One careless move and he’ll sense it—and disappear. Catching him after that will be far more difficult.”

“Understood, Mr. Cale.”

Chris, who had been quietly absorbing the plan, let out a low breath, half a laugh, leaning back against his seat. “You’re insane,” he said. “But at least one thing is still safe.”

“What is that, Mr. Chris?” Aaron asked.

Ah-right. Of course, Aaron didn’t know what they were keeping hidden. Chris had his reasons for cutting the conversation short. “Just follow Cale’s orders,” he said. “Watch every move Harold makes and report even the smallest change.”

“Of course, Mr. Chris,” Aaron replied obediently. “I’ll keep monitoring the area around Harold.”

Their return trip to SunCity went smoothly. The roads weren’t crowded. The harbor scenery-silent, almost ghostlike-along with the dim streetlights gradually gave way to something else. Brightly lit skyscrapers began to rise in the distance.

As instructed by Cale before they crossed into the city limits, he wanted to see Daven first. And so the car came to a stop right near the boundary.

“Be careful,” Chris warned. “Let me know if anything develops.”

Cale gave a brief nod.

The night wind picked up, tousling his hair even more. The coat he wore fluttered wildly, caught by the unpredictable gusts. Moments later, a white car pulled up nearby. Someone Cale recogized stepped out as soon as they saw him waiting.

“I’m sorry to have kept you waiting,” Erick said politely.

“It’s fine.”

Cale got into the car without hesitation, followed by Erick. The velcle pulled away swiftly, leaving behind the spot where Chris and Aaron had taken a different route.

Inside the car, Cale reached for his phone and made a call. “If I want to visit Daven tonight, can you arrange it?”

“Of course, Mr. Cale. Just let me know your current location so I can prepare.”

“I’ll be there in twenty minutes.”

“Understood.”

The call ended just like that. Cale let out a long breath. This situation wasn’t as simple as he’d initially assumed, and yet… a faint smile curved his lips. He leaned back comfortably against the passenger seat, letting his gaze wander as SunCity’s skyline stretched past them along the highway.

His phone vibrated again, signaling an incoming message. At first Cale had no intention of checking it—but the sender’s name made him straighten instantly.

Along with the message came a photo. Though taken from a distance and slightly blurred, Cale would never forget that man’s silhouette.

Aaron: He’s back, sir. Just as we suspected.

The smile on Cale’s face widened. His fingers moved quickly across the screen.

Cale: Don’t take your eyes off that bastard. I want him to keep thinking we’ve already left-and that there’s no way we’ll ever find him again.
