Eli hugged Cale tightly. “Thank you, Uncle Cale.”

“What about me?” Chris protested. “I’m the one who allowed Eli to fight back harder.”

“Oh, of course you get some appreciation too,” Naomi said.

Eli truly felt lucky to be part of the Miller family. When she thought about the past, it was truly embarrassing, and Eli genuinely felt guilty. But their acceptance made her realize that family was not only about blood ties.

That was why Eli did not want to become an excessive burden to them. She wanted to show many achievements to the Miller and Callyster families, who had never doubted her.

“I’m leaving,” Eli said, waving enthusiastically. “I’ll be back next week. And Josh, remember... no basketball for one month.”

The car taking Eli began to leave the Miller family home.
