Find me in your labyrinth (Stella and Jonathan) novel Chapter 2935

Catherine understood perfectly well, but only responded with a knowing smile.

On the other side, Mrs. Winters managed to sneak in with the other guests using a forged invitation.

She hadn’t come alone, either—she’d brought along several close friends, telling them she wanted to surprise the Quintins.

To avoid being recognized by Evelyn, Mrs. Winters had changed her hairstyle and put on sunglasses, making sure everything was foolproof.

Once inside the banquet hall, Mrs. Winters and her friends found a quiet, out-of-the-way table.

Mrs. Winters immediately spotted Evelyn standing beside Old Mr. Quintin at the main table. Turning to her companions, she boasted, “That’s Ms. Quintin, our Eugene’s fiancée!”

Her attention was so focused on Evelyn that she didn’t even notice Sylvia sitting nearby.

Mrs. Laird remarked, “We met her at your birthday party, Mrs. Winters. She and Mr. Winters really make a great couple!”

Another lady asked, “Since Ms. Quintin is already engaged to Mr. Winters, why haven’t we seen him at this family gathering?”

Mrs. Winters’ expression soured at once. “Haven’t I told you? Evelyn and Eugene aren’t officially engaged yet, and Old Mr. Quintin is very old-fashioned. So naturally, inviting our family to something like this wouldn’t really be appropriate.”

The others nodded in agreement. “That’s true,” one said.

“It does make sense!”

But in their hearts, they couldn’t help but wonder: if Mrs. Winters didn’t want everyone to know about Ms. Quintin and the Winters family at this event, then why bother inviting them? And why go to such lengths to sneak around like this?

The truth was, Mrs. Winters wanted Evelyn and Eugene’s relationship confirmed in front of everyone.

She no longer cared what Eugene thought about it, nor whether he accepted it or not. If the entire Quintin family approved, and everyone in the Winters family agreed, then under all that pressure, Eugene would have no choice but to marry Evelyn—even if he didn’t want to.

A steady stream of people came over to the head table to toast—Old Mr. Quintin, Old Mr. Jarvis, Georgia, and, of course, Sylvia as well.

Sylvia’s phone rang. She glanced at the screen, then stood up and went out into the courtyard to take the call.

The banquet hall was on the first floor, and outside was a Chinese-style courtyard unique to Blythe. A glass wall separated it from the crowded hall, providing a quiet and tranquil space.

Taking care of a work issue, Sylvia finished her call and turned around, only to see Evelyn standing behind her.

“Did you need something?” Sylvia said coolly, catching on that Evelyn had been waiting for her.

Evelyn took out a small box and smiled. “Sylvia, I know I was wrong in the past, and I truly want to apologize. This is a gift for you on this special occasion—I hope you’ll forgive me, and that from now on we can be real friends, maybe even like sisters.”

Sylvia replied evenly, “I appreciate the gesture, but I’ll pass on the gift.”

“Sylvia!” Evelyn said urgently. “I mean it—I’m sincere!”

Sylvia’s clear, discerning gaze fell on her. “Evelyn, is there something you want from me?”
