A drone, its shell glowing with an eerie blue light, zipped over the burning villa and hovered in place. A crisp, mechanical voice came through the speakers.
“Warning. This is a hazardous area. All unauthorized personnel, please evacuate to a safe zone immediately.”
Abriella jerked her head up, eyes wide with shock and something close to hope as she spotted the high-tech drone.
“Infinity,” she breathed.
“It’s Infinity! Infinity’s here!” Her voice cracked with relief. Even the butler, normally so composed, stared up in disbelief.
It had barely been two minutes since they’d made the call. The speed was unreal.
The drone swept around the villa in a tight circle, its sensors locking onto Will and the others trapped inside. Within seconds, its voice rang out again, this time aimed at Will, who was somewhere in the thick of the flames.
“Attention, rescuer. Crack detected in the left load-bearing wall. Collapse in ten seconds. Move now.”
“Move right, three meters ahead. There’s a ventilation shaft for oxygen.”
“Caution. Floor temperature above safe limit. Electrical conduits below may burst. Stick close to the wall.”
“Best escape route has been mapped. Head for the backyard pool. Repeat, backyard pool.”
The drone’s voice was cool and steady, cutting through the chaos, offering Will a lifeline in the middle of the inferno.
Abriella’s heart beat painfully fast, her hands clenched at her sides. Every second felt endless.
Then, finally, after what felt like forever, someone burst out of the thick, choking smoke. Will.
He was soaking wet, his face streaked with ash, but his eyes burned with fierce determination. On his back and in his arms, he carried two limp, unconscious figures.
He made it. He got them out.
