She gave a half-truth, her voice light. “I had a nightmare last night. In my dream, your parents just collapsed and no matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t wake them up.”

“When I woke up, I felt so uneasy, like something bad was going to happen. That’s why I called you. I never expected… that it really would.”

Abriella sucked in a sharp breath.

“Wait, are you saying your twins sent you a warning dream?” She sounded half-joking, half in awe.

“They really are lucky babies. If you hadn’t called me last night, if we hadn’t gotten there in time, my parents… they might not have made it out of that villa.”

Abriella was getting more and more worked up. “Emmy, you saved my parents’ lives. When they wake up, I’m telling them everything.”

“Don’t.” Emmy cut her off right away. “The one who really risked everything for them was Will. It wasn’t me.”

Her tone shifted, growing serious.

“Abriella, you need to look into what really caused the fire.”

“A gas leak in the kitchen? That feels way too convenient.”

“Check the gas inspection records for your place. See if anything looks off, like someone tampered with it.”

“And most important, when exactly did Mandy leave last night? Where did she go? Does anyone know, or have proof of where she was?”

After hanging up, Emmy leaned back against her headboard, her eyes thoughtful and distant.
