Whatever.
As long as she got the land she wanted, it didn't matter how the Governor knew.
Lost in her thoughts.
Coralie eventually succumbed to exhaustion and fell asleep.
—
The next day.
Coralie arrived at her office early, her excellent mood lasting throughout the day.
"Good morning, Ms. Quill." Odom was waiting in her office, his own lips curving into a smile when he saw how happy she looked.
"Did you get everything sorted at home?" Coralie looked up and asked.
"All taken care of," Odom replied respectfully. "Ms. Quill, do you have any tasks for me today?"
"I need to go to the hospital this afternoon. Are you free? I need you to drive me."
Coralie said quietly while organizing her documents.
Back when she was hiding her pregnancy, she had to drive herself to all her prenatal checkups, which was exhausting.
Since Odom already knew, she might as well have him accompany her.
"Of course I am!"
Odom answered with resolute enthusiasm, instantly dropping what he was doing. "Just give me a moment, Ms. Quill, I'll go prepare the car right now!"
This was his first time accompanying her to an appointment. It was a massive milestone.
Before Coralie could even say another word, Odom had already bolted out the door.
Coralie smiled helplessly. Why was he so excited? You'd think the baby was his.
The car was ready.
Coralie grabbed her bag and got into the passenger seat, not forgetting to remind him, "Please keep a close eye on the orphanage project for me."
"Not a problem, Ms. Quill." Odom glanced at her round belly through the rearview mirror, his eyes softening. "And don't worry about the casino either. Your main priority right now is taking good care of yourself."
"Thank you, Odom." Coralie smiled, though the light in her eyes dimmed slightly.
"Mr. Irving is returning to the country in a few days."
Odom said carefully, his lips pressed in a thin line. "It's been three months since you separated. Have you still not thought things through, Ms. Quill?"
"Thought what through?" Coralie pursed her lips.
