He was boiling with rage and had nowhere to vent it.
"Watch your mouth!" Coralie's gaze instantly turned icy.
"Or what?" Rocco didn't back down, continuing, "Aside from you, who else can just waltz in and demand to see the Governor? And be personally escorted by his own secretary."
"You're the first person to ever receive such an honor."
Coralie was undeniably stunning, a famous beauty in their circles.
Behind closed doors, the men referred to her as the ultimate fantasy of millions of men in Caelus.
It wasn't hard to imagine why the Governor might have taken a liking to her.
Coralie pressed her lips together, a ripple of doubt surfacing in her mind.
She had been so anxious earlier that this detail hadn't even crossed her mind.
It was true—the Governor's secretary had actively sought her out.
And—
Why did he help her? Did he really just think her proposal was that good?
"If you're so curious, Mr. Rocco, why don't you ask him yourself?"
Coralie said coldly, pushing her own suspicions aside. "I don't mind finding a way to see the Governor again just to pass on your questions."
"Let's just hope the Governor hasn't actually fallen for you."
Rocco choked back his anger, not daring to push her too far, but unable to resist a parting shot. "Otherwise, if he finds out about your glorious track record..."
He was referring to her history of rotating through multiple boy toys a year.
"You're psycho!"
Coralie couldn't be bothered wasting another breath on him and bent down to get into her car.
Because she bent over a little too far, her jacket slipped, revealing the undeniable roundness of her belly.
This detail was caught perfectly by Rocco.
Rocco frowned, a glint of confusion flashing in his eyes.
Had Coralie gained weight?
But looking at the rest of her, nothing else had changed.
Why would she only gain weight in her stomach?
After a few seconds of blank staring, it hit him like a ton of bricks.
Coralie was pregnant!
No wonder she had been using her purse to cover her stomach the entire time!
*Heh.*
