At the bidding conference.
Rocco was dressed sharply, looking like a total sleazeball as he held a glass of red wine, his eyes sweeping across the venue in a great mood.
Not seeing Coralie anywhere, he asked curiously, "Why don't I see anyone from Westshore Casino?"
His subordinate replied, "Maybe they heard that you're dead set on getting Plot 5, Mr. Rocco, and they were too embarrassed to show up and lose face."
"Tsk."
Rocco let out a cold laugh, his tone full of arrogance. "Coralie always acts so high and mighty, looking down on everyone else. Well, today is the day I trample her into the dirt."
"If she doesn't show up, today's little performance will be so boring."
The more Rocco spoke, the more smug he became, unable to wipe the grin off his face.
Plot 5 was in a prime location with immeasurable commercial potential, and countless people were eyeing it.
He had already struck a deal with the minister. Once he got the land.
He was going to turn half of it into a crematorium and the other half into a funeral home.
It was prime real estate.
If there was one thing Caelus had no shortage of, it was rich people. They would absolutely fight tooth and nail to secure a luxurious resting place for their afterlife.
He was going to make a fortune.
Just as he was reveling in his triumph, his subordinate rushed over, looking pale. "Mr. Rocco, Coralie is here."
"She actually dared to show her face?" Rocco glanced back and sure enough, he saw Coralie walking in with the manager of Westshore Casino, looking as confident as ever.
"It's just the final flailings of a dying animal." Rocco sneered, completely dismissing her.
Still, he maintained a facade of superficial politeness and greeted her, "Ms. Quill, long time no see."
"It really has been a while." Coralie set her bag down, flipped her long hair over her shoulder, and curled her red lips into a smirk. "I heard something massive happened at your casino yesterday. A couple walked away with over a hundred million after just three rounds?"
Rocco's face instantly went dark. He had explicitly ordered everyone to keep their mouths shut about that. Who the hell leaked it to Coralie?
"Just pocket change." Rocco said, his mouth twitching as he forced a response.
"Is it?" Coralie picked up a glass of plain water, took a sip, and smiled sweetly, her eyes curving into crescents. "Then how come I also heard that you got so mad you smashed a gambling table and injured your fingers?"
Rocco quickly hid his bandaged hand behind his back.
Who the hell told her that?!
