Burn Me Once, Burn With Me novel Chapter 630

“I want to win her back.”

At these words, all sound from his grandmother's end of the line stopped abruptly.

Cassian even pulled the phone away from his ear to check if the call had been disconnected.

But the screen showed the call was still active. It was just silent.

“Grandma?”

Cassian called out.

“Are you out of your mind?”

his grandmother finally responded, her tone filled with disbelief.

Cassian was exasperated but had expected this reaction.

“Grandma, I'm not kidding. I regret it,” he said solemnly, his voice more serious than she had ever heard it.

His grandmother felt as if the world had turned upside down.

“Wait a minute, hold on,”

she stopped him, then asked with a frown, “Weren't you the one who was dead set against marrying her? You only caved because I kept insisting and you ran out of other options. Why the sudden change of heart?”

Cassian bit his lip, a patch of color draining from it.

“It was my fault. Back then… I was terrible to her.” His voice grew low, and his distant eyes seemed lost in memories of the past.

“But I truly regret it now. I realize that I've… fallen in love with her,” Cassian said, his voice heavy with a touch of sorrow.

He had always been what one might call a passionless man. But thinking back now, he recalled how he used to deliberately seek out Ruby's figure, and the secret relief he felt upon realizing it was her. He had already been captivated by her, but the pressure from his grandmother had made him lock away his feelings and even treat her cruelly on purpose.

“Love?”

After a long silence, a voice finally came from the other end of the line.

His grandmother's voice was hoarse and had suddenly grown colder.
