Curled up in his lap, Violet nodded obediently.

"I'll explain everything when I get home. For now, just be patient. You still have Ulysses and Gayle at the apartment to keep you company, right?"

At the mention of those two names, Violet's expression faltered.

She pressed her lips together, looking as if she wanted to say something, but ultimately swallowed it down. Instead, she flashed him a harmless smile. "Alright. I'll wait for you to come home."

"Me and the baby."

Violet rested a hand over the slight curve of her stomach, her eyes locking onto Hanley, completely seductive.

Hanley swallowed hard.
