Burn Me Once, Burn With Me novel Chapter 678

Romaine glared viciously at Victor and spat out one last insult.

She turned and stormed toward the door. "Do you really think acting like her knight in shining armor makes a difference? She's a cheap slut who surrounds herself with men! Why would she ever look twice at a boring, stiff loser like you?"

Victor's hand froze, then slowly curled into a tight fist.

Before he could react, she slammed the door behind her. But her toxic words echoed in his mind, refusing to fade.

He ran a hand through his hair in deep frustration, pacing back and forth across the room before forcing himself to sit down and work on his blueprints.

But no matter how hard he tried to focus, his pen merely hovered over the paper, hesitating to make a mark.

...

That night, sleep eluded many.

Southgarde Estate.

Domingo held his breath the entire car ride, making himself as small as possible.

He didn't exhale until the car finally parked at Southgarde Estate.

"If you're tired, go ahead and head to your rooms," Ruby instructed as she stepped out of the vehicle, looking back at Hayley and Fanny.

Both women shook their heads in perfect synchronization. "We'll sleep when this is done."

As they spoke, their eyes collectively shifted to Domingo.

He shrank back, trailing meekly behind them as they entered the house.

Another person trying to stay out of the crossfire was Townsend, hiding awkwardly behind Garrison.

The only ones who had returned were Domingo. Rosalie was still being held hostage by Morgan Blackwood.

The group gathered around the coffee table in the living room. Hearing the commotion, Pamela forced herself awake and brought them a fresh pot of tea.

Ruby took a sip to wet her throat, then set the mug down.

The sharp clink of ceramic against glass made Domingo jump.

"I believe I told you all to be extremely careful," Ruby said, her voice low and serious.

Domingo's head dropped so low it practically touched his knees.

But he stubbornly forced himself to look up at her, his eyes desperate. "It was my mistake. And I am endlessly grateful that you saved me, Miss Ruby."
