In an instant, Hayley's nerves tensed up.
“Where is he?!”
She fumed, hands on her hips, wishing she could drag Landon in front of her right then and give his head a good smack.
She quickly pulled out her phone to call him, but as expected, the call went unanswered.
Hayley was in a full-blown panic now.
“Hello, Ruby? Did he go to see you?” Hayley asked, slamming the hotel room door and hurrying away as she called Ruby.
Hearing Hayley's question, Ruby frowned. “No, why? Is he missing?”
“Yes! It looks like he's checked out of his room, and his phone is off. I have no idea where he went.”
Hearing the urgency in Hayley's voice, Ruby's expression grew serious. “Send me your location. I'll help you look for him.”
Soon, the two met at the hotel entrance.
“No word at all?”
Ruby asked, opening the car door. “Get in!”
Hayley got in, panting and sweating from her run.
She gritted her teeth, her voice laced with frustration. “He's such an emotionally unstable idiot! Who knows where he's run off to in this state!”
It was rare for Ruby to see Hayley so worked up, and she realized the gravity of the situation.
Her face grew solemn. “Think back. The last person he saw was you, right? Could something you said have set him off?”
“Set him off? Everything I said was…”
Hayley scoffed, but then she abruptly cut herself off.
She fell silent, her expression tense and grave.
“Rue, do you think it's possible he went to find Cassian?”
Hearing this, even Ruby's usual composure wavered.
“Cassian?”
she repeated, unable to hide her surprise.
What connection did Landon have with Cassian? Why would he suddenly go looking for him?
Hayley looked embarrassed. “I just remembered, his expression was a little strange at the time.”
