"It's simple. I've already told you before."
Ruby poured a cup of hot tea herself and pushed it toward Domingo.
His eyes followed her movement, and his fingers twitched, but he didn't reach for the cup.
Ruby noted his hesitation and calmly looked away.
"When the time is right, I'll arrange for you to make a statement. You'll need to explain everything Hanley had you do, including how he locked you and your wife in that factory and cut off all your contact with the outside world."
Ruby didn't mince words, laying out all her requirements.
Domingo's brow was furrowed the entire time. He knew what Ruby was asking of him was only right.
After all, he had been an accomplice to the crime.
"If I agree to do this, what will happen to me..."
He trailed off, looking up at Ruby with an intense gaze.
His heart pounded, his fingers digging into his palms as if he were awaiting a verdict.
"I will apply for a reduced sentence for you, but the final decision will be up to the court."
Ruby met his gaze and saw the exact moment his hope plummeted.
"When Hanley arranged Violet's fake death and kept her as his mistress abroad, he was, at most, committing a moral transgression that would be frowned upon by society. Legally speaking, there's not much to pursue there."
Fanny spoke up at the right moment. As the legal expert in the room, besides Ruby, her opinion carried the most weight.
As soon as she spoke, everyone turned to look at her.
