He was enchanting.
There was no other word that could possibly describe what I was seeing.

The creature before me was both terrifying and beautiful. His black fur shimmered beneath the light that streamed through the trees.
A deep, rumbling vibration came from his chest as he leaned closer into my hand, almost like a cat or a giant, overgrown puppy. It was absurd, but my nervousness slipped away the longer I felt the warmth beneath my palm.
I couldn’t help it. I laughed softly. The sound echoed faintly in the forest.
“Are you… different from him?” I asked quietly.
The wolf let out a low growl and jerked his head away slightly, appearing to be offended.
I smirked. “You’re mad at Abel, aren’t you?”
He growled again, this time lower and grumpier.
That made me laugh a little louder. “You’re much cuter than him,” I teased.
At that, the enormous wolf tilted his head before giving me an actual nod.
“You want to stay like this, huh?” I asked.
He nodded again, pressing his head closer for another pat. I giggled, my fingers playing with his thick fur. The air was cold, but touching him was like burying my hand into living warmth.
Then, without warning, he stood.
My laughter froze in my throat as bones cracked again. The fur melted away, and within seconds, Abel was standing before me again in his human form.
Completely naked.
My jaw nearly dropped to the forest floor as his manhood was situated right in front of my face.

“Holy-“I spun my head so fast I almost passed out from dizziness. “Do
you mind?!”

There was a moment of silence. I could hear him scoff under his breath, the rustling of fabric following soon after. I could tell, even without looking, that he wasn’t the least bit embarrassed.
When I dared to peek back, he was already pulling on his boxers, followed by his shirt, and the sight of his muscles flexing as he moved made my brain shut down completely.
I swallowed hard and looked anywhere but at him.
He finally turned to me, his brows slightly furrowed. “You’re calmer than I thought,” he said, studying me.
I cleared my throat, brushing off the dirt and leaves from my jeans to distract myself. “I just think that you didn’t seem like a normal human to begin with,” I muttered. “I’ve seen… stranger things. And honestly, I believe in other entities in this world. Vampires, witches, and all of that.”
“That’s good,” he said simply.
“That’s good?” I repeated, lifting a brow. “You turn into a literal wolf, and that’s all you have to say?”
His lips twitched into a faint smile.
“I don’t have to explain everything to you right now,” he said quietly.
My lips parted. “Abel, I—”
“But long story short,” he continued, cutting me off gently.
Our eyes met.
“You’re my mate.”
Those words rattled my entire universe.
Mates.
It lingered in the air between us, trapping around my chest, making it impossible to breathe. I had read about it before in a fantastical, fictional sense. Thirteen–year–old me had devoured those stories, staying up past midnight with a flashlight under the covers, heart pounding as the heroine discovered she was fated to some brooding Alpha.
Now, that same girl inside me was screaming, this can’t be happening.

Because the man standing in front of me was everything those stories warned about. Enchanting, dangerous, breathtakingly beautiful in a way that made my body forget how to
exist.
“I’m your mate,” he said again, slower this time.
tried to laugh, but it came out shaky. “Mates. I had read about it in fiction books before.”
He raised a brow, and the corner of his lips twitched. “Fiction?”
“Yeah,” I said, still processing everything.
He tilted his head slightly, watching me with intensity. “Do you know what that means?”
I swallowed hard. “It means that I’m your other half,” I said quietly. “The one bound to your soul by the Moon Goddess. I’m… yours.”
The words sounded surreal as they left my mouth. My heart was hammering so hard I could feel it in my fingertips. He clicked his tongue. “Humans know much more than I expected,” he murmured.
I wanted to look away, but his gaze pinned me in place. “What does this mean… to you?” I asked.
He hesitated. Then he crossed his arms, his expression hardening. The sudden distance in his eyes made me uneasy.
“I came here because I need you,” he said finally. “Like I said.”
