A Divorce He Regrets (Raina and Alexander) novel Chapter 349

KYE

“Excuse me,” I mumbled, already rising. “Can I use the restroom?”

“Of course,” Raina nodded quickly. “It’s upstairs. First door by the left.”

I left without looking back with a heart that was pounding so loud that I couldn’t hear anything else, but it wasn’t from emotion. It was from anticipation.

Upstairs, their whispers followed after me and I paused at the turn, the air carrying their voices to me from below. Yes, argue and fight over me.

“I don’t like him and I don’t want Ava to go out with him,” Alexander’s voice was firm and sharp. “I don’t know what she sees in him. He’s razz, unpredictable and looks dangerous.”

“He’s not that bad,” Raina muttered. “He at least deserves a chance.”

A smile tugged at the corner of my lips. I don’t care what they're doing or what they think of me. I just wanted to quickly find a way to the office.

As if on cue, I found what looked like Alexander’s office. Bingo. The door was unlocked, which was a stupid move, but then again, it wasn’t like they thought that I would sneak into their office.

I walked inside and the walls were lined with shelves and folders neatly labeled and a heavy desk in the center.

I moved fast and got to work. I can’t get caught.

The bug was the size of a thumbtack and I tucked it behind the bookshelf near the computer tower, pressed the activation, and then whispered a confirmation into my phone. Then I hid another one in the base of a lamp. Just in case.

I didn’t have time to check if it worked. I quietly slid out and quickly made my way for the bathroom. I washed my hands for show and by the time I opened the door again, Liam was waiting.

“I was just wondering where you went,” he said as he crossed his arms. “I’m just trying to make sure that you didn’t get lost.”

I gave him a slow smile. “Thank you. I appreciate your concern.”

I brushed past him before he could start sniffing around or questioning me. Back downstairs, Ava looked like she wanted the floor to eat her alive.

Her father didn’t look at me when he said, “dinner is over. You can go now.”

His tone was not only dismissive, it was rude and cold but I didn’t give a fuck.

I got up. “Thank you. And thank you for having me.”

As I reached for the door, Liam caught my arm, stopping me moving any further.

Chapter 349 2

It was just sad that I had not found a way to hack into the computer and Alexander’s phone. Well, that can come later. But now, I had ears in the lion’s den.

The next day at school, Ava wouldn’t look at me, and Liam was watching me like a hawk. But I wasn’t about to pretend or play scared. Who does he think he is?

I spotted her near her locker and I started walking towards her, wanting to talk to her about dinner. Her hands were fumbling with her books and her shoulders were tense, like she felt me coming.

But before I could reach her, Liam appeared out of nowhere and grabbed me by the arm.

“What are you about to do?” He demanded, narrowing his eyes at me.

I didn’t even flinch. “I’m about to go talk to my girl.

Chapter 349 3

I clenched my jaw, grinding my teeth together to keep from laughing in his face. It’s not everyone that doesn’t like me.

I thought of Raina, her defense, her look of understanding and the slight warmth in her eyes. Their father might hate me, but their mother? She didn’t mind a bit.

I wanted to rub it in his face but if I did, the idiot would ask me how I knew and I couldn’t risk that. Your mother wants to give me a chance.
