And just like that, he roughly grabbed onto my wrists then he pulled me to his chest hard until I collided with him. I gasped from the contact and he took the opportunity to kiss me roughly, biting my lips and sucking on it before he pulled away. Then he opened the door again and pushed me inside.
I should have fought. I shouldn't have gotten into the car, but I didn’t try to fight him because I knew there would be consequences if I did.
The car smelled of blood and cigarettes and something darker that I couldn’t name. He walked over to the other side and got in.
When he got settled in, he started the car and the engine roared to life.
He drove off, the car humming low and angry under us. The city flashed by in blurred neon and shadows. I sat with my legs pulled tightly to my chest and my arms wrapped around them, my skin hot from nerves but I didn’t ask any questions because I already knew he wouldn’t answer or I wouldn’t like the answers he would give.
We pulled to a place I had never seen before. It looked like a club. Except it wasn't the type shown in movies. The sign was faded and crooked, barely hanging by a rusted chain and people were slipping in and out through a narrow alley door like they didn’t want to be seen.
It was underground, illegal and dangerous.
Of course it had to be if Kye goes there. I didn’t move because Kye didn’t ask me to and I didn’t want to anger him any further. He got out of the car and walked around to my side before yanking the door open.
“Get your ass out, Ava…” his eyes were cold. The air was just as cold but beads of sweat formed on my forehead. Not to mention the beating of my heart. I had never seen a place like this and with Kye, one could never predict what he was about to do.
I gripped the edge of my seat, refusing to move. What if this was where he had planned for me to die?
He walked us down and finally set me down next to a man with a cigarette tucked behind one ear and tattoos that ran up his neck.
“She stays with you,” Kye ordered.
The guy glanced at me, then he nodded. “Got it.”
“I meant it,” Kye growled. “Touch her or let anything happen to her and I’ll make sure you regret it.”
With that, he turned around and vanished into the crowd before I could even think to call his name or ask him what was going on.
