When They Beg I Rise (Lemira) novel Chapter 919

The color completely drained from Sophia's face the second she saw Orion. She never imagined he would track them here.

She rushed forward in a panic. "W-what are you doing here?"

Sophia's mind was racing frantically, trying to figure out exactly how much of that conversation Orion had just heard.

If he knew her mother had deliberately placed him in that doomed car just to manipulate the Everharts, the Sinclair family was entirely finished.

Orion's eyes were terrifyingly hollow. He bypassed Sophia entirely and stopped right in front of Amelia.

Amelia stumbled back two steps, guilt written all over her face. She stammered, "W-why are you here?"

"Are you disappointed to see me?" Orion asked, his voice dead flat.

"Don't be ridiculous, why would I be disappointed? I'm just a little surprised. How did you know we'd be here? Have you been having us followed?"

Amelia forced herself to meet his stare. "I found Evelina first. Even if you know about this, I'm asking you not to tell the Langstons, and especially not Lemira."

A cold, mocking smirk played on Orion's lips. "What makes you think I'd ever stoop to covering for you?"

"Because you're tied to this mess too! If Lemira finds out the truth, do you honestly think you two can stay together? She'd never forgive you—you're technically one of the reasons her parents are dead!"

Beside them, Evelina's eyes practically bulged out of her skull.

No wonder the Everhart heir was treating Lemira like absolute royalty. It was all connected to that old car crash.

Orion was only showering Lemira with affection out of sheer, overwhelming guilt.

Orion's expression instantly darkened as he shot a lethal glare at Evelina.

Evelina immediately dropped her head, pretending she hadn't heard a single word.

A second later, Orion ordered coldly, "Take Evelina out of here."

"No! You can't take her, Orion! We caught her first!"

"If I don't spell it out for you, your family seems incapable of grasping reality."

For years, Orion had known what the Sinclairs were. If he used polite euphemisms, they either didn't get it, or they aggressively pretended they didn't.

He had absolutely zero patience left for their games. Tearing away the polite veneer was the only way to force them to look in the mirror.

Seeing her daughter utterly humiliated, Amelia erupted. "Orion Everhart! Have you lost your mind? I practically helped raise you! I never asked you to break the law for me—all I'm asking is for you to pretend you didn't see Evelina here! Can you not even grant me that?!"

A harsh, humorless laugh escaped Orion. Of course the Sinclairs would make a demand like that.

"Do you honestly think Evelina ended up in this warehouse by accident?"

The realization hit Amelia like a freight train. "You... you set this up?"

Utter terror warped her features. During her confrontation with Evelina, she had actively bragged about the truth behind the car crash, blatantly admitting to using Orion as a pawn.

Without missing a beat, Orion's men dragged a thrashing Evelina out of the warehouse.
