When They Beg I Rise (Lemira) novel Chapter 920

Desperate, Amelia lunged forward, pleading frantically. "Orion, everything I said just now was a lie! I was just baiting Evelina to see what she knew. I never intended to use you back then!"

"You're pitching this to the wrong audience. Save your excuses for my mother."

Seeing the absolute ice in his eyes, Amelia let out a manic, relieved laugh. "Do you honestly think your mother is going to believe you? She won't. She's only going to believe her best friend."

The panic inside her began to subside.

Right. Orion's word against hers was nothing to be terrified of.

Orion stared at her like he was looking at a corpse. "It's a shame my mother just watched every single word you said."

Did she really think he didn't know how the Sinclairs operated?

He had obviously ensured his mother witnessed the entire confession with her own eyes. Otherwise, she never would have accepted the truth.

The color drained from Amelia's face. She whipped her head around in a frenzy. "Is she here?! You know her heart can't handle stress—how could you bring her to a filthy place like this?!"

"Drop the fake concern. She's not here. There's a hidden camera live-streaming everything that just happened. She watched the whole performance from the comfort of her living room."

The words hit Amelia like a physical blow, and she collapsed hard onto the concrete floor.

"Are you trying to destroy me?!" she shrieked in despair.

"If you're so ashamed of what you did, you shouldn't have done it in the first place."

"It's not the same! You know exactly how close your mother and I are! You did this deliberately to ruin our friendship!"

Amelia couldn't fathom that Orion would actually pull a stunt like this.

Orion's face turned to stone. "I have tolerated your parasitic family for years. The only reason I haven't wiped you off the map is out of respect for my mother. Did you honestly believe you survived this long because of your own brilliance?"

Hearing that, a toxic bitterness exploded inside Amelia. "Do you think your mother is some kind of saint?! I was the one who was supposed to marry your father! I was supposed to be your stepmother! But she played dirty—she manipulated you to get close to him, and he only married her because of you!

If she hadn't stolen my life, do you think I'd be groveling in the dirt like this?!"

Panic-stricken, Sophia turned to her mother. "What do we do now?! Without Mrs. Amanda's backing, every single contract we had lined up is going to be shredded!"

The adrenaline crash finally hit Amelia, leaving her trembling with sheer, overwhelming dread.

"How the hell should I know?! We walked right into a trap! He orchestrated this whole thing!"

"Mom, you have to go to the Everhart estate right now and explain! You two have decades of history—she can't just throw that away! She's soft-hearted! If you get down on your knees and beg for mercy, I know she'll forgive you!"

"Why should I have to get on my knees and beg her?!"

Amelia's pride flared up, twisted with intense, bitter resentment.

"I've suffered under her shadow for decades! I'm completely sick of it!"

"But Mom! She's the only lifeline we have left! You just have to swallow your pride one more time! If you go to prison, it's over. We lose absolutely everything!"

Tears streaming down her face, Amelia frantically wiped them away. "You're right. Get the car. We're going to the Everhart estate right now."
