When Her Death Couldn't Break Him (Cecilia and Nathaniel) novel Chapter 2287

Felix ran out of words.

He figured if these people wanted to ignore him, then fine. It wouldn't be long anyway. All he had to do was throw them a little something, and they'd go right back to trailing after him like before.

It sounded good in his head.

Reality didn't move with it.

Felix tried again, sending someone to buy things to win over the classmates, but they barely gave him the time of day.

"Stop wasting your effort. We're not that easy to buy off."

By then, every kid in class had already seen what kind of person Felix was. He only knew how to pick on the weak.

The whole day passed, and not one child spoke to him.

Felix couldn't make sense of it.

Had he really been the one in the wrong?

By the last class of the day, Felix hadn't even started the lesson before Daniel called him out.

The other kids in the classroom looked at each other, puzzled.

"Why did Daniel call him out?"

"Who knows? You think they're kicking him out?"

"Probably not. His family has too much money and too much pull..."

Voices rose one after another, everybody throwing in a guess.

Felix had no idea what was going on either. He followed Daniel outside, then asked, "What happened? Why did you call me out here?"

Daniel let out a sigh.

"Felix, your grandpa sent someone to pick you up and take you to the hospital. It sounds like his condition isn't too good."

"What?" Felix's eyes snapped wide. "Then I need to get to the hospital right away."

He still remembered that before his great-grandfather passed, he'd only stayed in the hospital for a short while.

Now all he could think about was his grandpa ending up the same way.

"Go on."

Daniel handed him over to Robert's personal driver.

"Grandpa wants to ask you something. Where was your mother planning to take you today?" Robert asked gently.

Felix was still just a child. He thought Robert was going to stand up for him, so without any hesitation, he told him everything from beginning to end.

"I don't want to go abroad. My mom insisted on sending me abroad. If I hadn't almost been hit by the car, she never would've let me off." As Felix spoke, he didn't notice Robert's face turning worse and worse.

"Grandpa, you have to talk to my mom. Otherwise she's always trying to send me away."

Robert nodded, his whole face set hard.

"Don't worry. As long as Grandpa's here, nobody's sending you abroad."

"That's great." Felix lit right up, not noticing that the old man's face had turned even uglier.

Robert flicked a look at the personal secretary who had been standing watch nearby the whole time.

The secretary nodded and slipped out at once, already understanding.

Then Robert said, "Felix, how about you stay with Grandpa for a while? That way, with Grandpa looking out for you, you won't have to worry about your mother sending you abroad."

The second Felix heard that, he didn't think twice. He nodded fast.

"Okay, okay. Grandpa, wherever you are, that's where I'll stay with you."
