Unknown Divorce Revelation Beyond Time (Charlene and Thorne) novel Chapter 910

She pondered for a few seconds before picking up her phone and dialing Moran Albright.

Moran answered almost immediately. "Vesta? Is something wrong?"

Vesta forced a light laugh. "We've officially filed the appeal, so that whole mess is on pause for now. You and Granger have been a huge help lately, so I wanted to treat you both to dinner. Are you free later?"

The dinner invitation was just a spur-of-the-moment excuse. Her real goal was to see if Moran would even answer her call, and if his attitude toward her had changed.

"Dinner? I'm free, of course, but I'm not sure about Granger. I'll have to ask him." Moran suddenly remembered something. "Wait, hasn't Thorne been swamped these past few days? Travis Kress is still in town, right? Does Thorne actually have time to grab dinner with us?"

Vesta hesitated for a fraction of a second before smoothing out her tone. "Oh, him? I don't know if he's free. I haven't been able to reach him. I'm the one inviting you guys to dinner; it has nothing to do with him."

Moran sounded taken aback. "Are you two... fighting?"

Vesta had phrased it that way on purpose, of course.

She wanted Moran to assume they were just having a lover's spat.

"Fighting? I don't think so," she replied breezily, quickly changing the subject. "Could you check with Granger and see if he's available?"

"Sure."

Based on Vesta's casual tone, Moran figured that whatever argument she was having with Thorne wasn't a big deal. Instead of calling Thorne to pry into their relationship drama, he dialed Granger Harden.

When Granger heard the pitch and realized Thorne wouldn't be there, he immediately declined. "I'm actually tied up with something. I'll pass this time. Maybe next time."

In the past, the three of them had grabbed meals together plenty of times without Thorne.

But now, with Thorne out of the picture, Moran didn't want to go either. "If you're not going, then neither am I," he told Granger.

It would be awkward and inappropriate for him to have a one-on-one dinner with Vesta.

He promptly called Vesta back to deliver the news.

Vesta had already guessed that if Thorne wasn't attending, Granger would conveniently be "busy."
