Katrina yanked her hand free and said coldly, "We are broken up. Whatever I do has nothing to do with you."
"That was a one-sided decision. I never agreed to it."
"It doesn't matter if you agree. You saw for yourself, I have a new prospect, and we might be getting married very soon. Naylor, can you marry me?"
Driven by sheer anger, Katrina finally blurted the words out.
Unsurprisingly, a dead silence settled over the scene.
Naylor stared at her fixedly, his lips parting slightly, but ultimately, he said nothing.
A bitter scoff bubbled up in Katrina's chest as a suffocating wave of despair washed over her, making her eyes sting with sudden tears.
See? She knew he wouldn't marry her.
So her decision was right—it was well past time for them to end things.
"Naylor, I am truly grateful for everything, really. But you can't give me what I need, so let's just go our separate ways amicably." Fighting through the ache in her heart, she dropped those final words and turned to leave.
Naylor raised his hand, then froze. Watching her walking away, a fierce sense of indignation flared inside him. He shouted at her retreating back, "Even if that guy is willing to marry you, he's definitely got an ulterior motive! You're just desperate right now, grabbing at straws. Don't let yourself get played!"
Naylor trusted his instincts and his judgment.
But to Katrina, his words only proved how despicable he was. He couldn't give her a commitment, yet he had the nerve to maliciously slander someone who was willing to step up!
Fighting the urge to turn around and scream at him, Katrina walked straight back into the menswear store without a backward glance.
Just then, Julian finished paying and picked up his shopping bags, ready to leave.
Seeing Katrina return, he frowned slightly and asked with concern, "Are you alright?"
"Yeah, I'm fine," Katrina forced a smile.
Julian studied her quietly for a couple of seconds before they turned and walked out of the store together.
