Only after Ivy's figure disappeared from view did Jeremy retract his gaze. He retreated into his room and reached out to close the door.

Back in her own bedroom, Ivy leaned heavily against the wooden panels of her door. She took a deep breath. It took an unknown amount of time for her tightly wound nerves to slowly ease. She truly had no idea what to do anymore. Even with the opportunity to get closer to him now, she was terrified that any initiative on her part would only make Jeremy uncomfortable. Forget it. It was better to just let nature take its course.

Early the next morning, Felicia had barely gotten out of bed when a knock sounded at her door. She went to open it and found Jeremy standing outside. "Jeremy."

"Pack your things, Felicia," Jeremy said. "We are leaving this morning."

Felicia stared at him in surprise. "This morning?" She had assumed they would be staying for another two days.

Jeremy murmured an affirmative sound, offering no further explanation.

"Alright then," Felicia said. "Is Ivy coming with us?"

"Someone else will come to pick her up," Jeremy replied.

Felicia looked at him for a moment before nodding, deciding not to press the matter.

After breakfast, the vehicle sent to retrieve them was already idling outside the main hall. Felicia reached out to grasp Ivy's hand. "I hope we can see each other again sometime."

"We definitely will," Ivy replied with a soft nod.

Felicia smiled. "That is good to hear." With those words, she pulled her hand back and turned to climb into the car.

Jeremy turned his attention to Ivy. "Miss Manning, see you."

Ivy nodded. "Have a safe trip."

Jeremy gave a curt nod of acknowledgment and walked around the back of the vehicle to get in. Ivy stood rooted to the spot, watching the car slowly drive away. As it disappeared into the distance, a profound sense of emptiness washed over her heart.

She turned to the butler standing nearby. "Did my brother arrange those people?"
