"Savannah." Finley hurried over to his daughter. "What happened? Are you hurt?"
Savannah smoothed her hair. "I'm fine, Dad." She glanced at Darin standing in the doorway, then shifted her gaze to Fiona.
Mr. Lane's face was pale and tense. He looked at the staff and demanded coldly, "What is the meaning of this?"
"You shouldn't be asking them, Mr. Lane," Savannah replied smoothly. "You should ask your good daughter what she just did."
Fiona trembled, glaring viciously at Savannah.
"If I don't get a proper explanation today, I will not let this go," Finley declared.
Mr. Lane looked at the unconscious man on the floor, his brow furrowing deeply.
"You couldn't control yourself and decided to fool around with some random man, and now you're blaming me?" Fiona retorted defensively.
"Fiona!" Mr. Lane barked, cutting her off.
Savannah let out a cold laugh. "Let me spell it out for you. I didn't even take a sip of that drink. I just wanted to see what kind of pathetic game you were playing. Turns out, you're still relying on these dirty, underhanded tricks. It's fine if you don't want to admit it. We'll just call the police and let them investigate exactly how you conspired with this scumbag to ruin my reputation."
Her words clearly laid out the entire sequence of events.
Finley's expression darkened. "Then we call the police."
"Now hold on, Finley," Mr. Lane interjected frantically. "Let's do this instead. I'll have my people look into this immediately, and I promise to give Savannah a proper explanation. We can still negotiate the financial returns we discussed earlier."
His last sentence was a blatant reminder to Finley. The regulatory fines would severely impact Brookside Bank's cash flow. Finley's expression wavered slightly.
