"Let's go then," Darin said, stepping forward.
They returned to the banquet hall. Darin found Mr. Tate and exchanged a few words with him. Mr. and Mrs. Tate looked at Savannah, who stood beside Darin, and she greeted them politely. Afterward, Savannah left with Darin.
Sitting in Darin's car, Savannah sent a text to Finley.
"What do you want to have ?" Darin asked.
Savannah put her phone down, thinking for a moment. "Let's go to that new Coastal Grill on Forting Avenue."
Half an hour later, they were seated inside the restaurant.
While waiting for the food, Savannah asked, "How is Mrs. Curtis doing?"
Darin looked up at her. "She's fine."
"So she really doesn't plan to acknowledge Felicia at all?"
"It's for the best. There's no point in a reunion." Even if she apologized and showed remorse, it would be meaningless. He would rather Felicia act as if she never had a mother, since they wouldn't have any future interactions anyway.
Savannah just felt heartbroken for Felicia. She couldn't fathom what Mrs. Curtis was thinking to be so ruthless, but Darin's words made sense.
The dishes were served. Savannah took out her phone and snapped a picture. Darin watched her silently.
"It's not every day you treat me to a meal. I have to document the moment," Savannah said.
Darin said nothing, simply letting her take her photos.
Savannah sent the picture to Felicia with a message: Guess who's buying me dinner?
Felicia, who was currently watching television with Anne, saw the photo and replied: Do I even need to guess when it's that obvious?
