"A-Are you sure no one will find us?" Aster asked, her voice shaking.
Primrose turned to Edmund. "What do you think, husband?"
Edmund didn’t hesitate when he said, "I won’t let that happen."
Primrose smiled and then spoke to Aster. "Did you hear that? If my husband says so, then there’s nothing you need to worry about."
[Nothing to worry about? How can I not worry?!] Aster screamed in her mind. She was already close to losing it.
[We’re trying to sneak into the palace—no, wait, we’re already inside! But we haven’t even reached the west wing yet!]
[Aaa! I’m so scared right now! What if we get caught and the King fires my father?]
Honestly, getting fired wasn’t even the worst outcome. If they were discovered, Lord Keirwyn might even be punished for failing to educate his daughter.
But Primrose kept that to herself because saying it out loud would only make Aster panic more.
"Oh, come on, Aster. You don’t need to panic like that. Everything will be fine, you just have to trust me," Primrose said gently.
Aster gulped. She looked back and forth between Primrose and Edmund, then thought, [Why is she so calm? Doesn’t she feel afraid at all?]
At that same moment, Primrose found herself wondering the same thing.
Why was she acting so calm? Was she really not worried that King Averon might find out she was trying to break into the most secret place in the palace?
Well, the answer was no. She didn’t feel scared at all.
She didn’t really understand it herself, but as long as her husband stood beside her, she felt like she could face anything, even the whole world.
"A-Alright," Aster said at last. "But if something bad happens to me... can you tell my father not to open my sketchbook?"
Primrose rolled her eyes and grabbed Aster’s hand. "You can tell him that yourself." Then she added casually, "I’m not going to explain why his daughter likes drawing two men kissing each other."
[What?] Edmund froze for a second. [No... I must have heard that wrong.]
Primrose didn’t want to waste any more time, so she signaled Callen to bring Aster along with them.
"Eh, wait, wait, wait—why are we going to the balcony?" Aster asked when she realized they weren’t leaving through the bedroom door.
Primrose pushed the balcony door open with a small smile. "There are too many soldiers outside. There’s no way we can leave through the normal route."
To be honest, Primrose wasn’t completely sure they wouldn’t get caught either. But since her husband said she didn’t need to worry, she chose to believe him.
