The immortal thought about it for a moment, carefully weighing Edmond’s wish and what kind of payment would be suitable for something so great.
However, in the end, the immortal only smiled and said, "I want to watch you."
Edmond looked at him in confusion, clearly not expecting such a simple answer.
"Living forever is boring," the immortal explained. "I have seen countless people live and die, kingdoms rise and fall, and lovers promise each other eternity only to forget those promises in their next lives."
His smile grew slightly as he looked at Edmond. "So, watching a fool willingly suffer for the woman he loves should at least keep me entertained."
Edmond was not offended by his words. Instead, he immediately asked, "Does that mean you’ll grant my wish?"
"I will," the immortal replied. "But you should understand what you’re asking for. Once your fates are exchanged, the punishment that belongs to Rose will become yours. You will suffer through a hundred lives without knowing why, and every time you meet her again, happiness will never come easily."
Edmond remained silent for a moment before asking, "What about Rose?"
"What will happen to her after we exchange our fates?" Edmond continued. "Will she still have to suffer?"
"No," the immortal replied.
That single word was enough.
"Then do it," Edmond said firmly.
The immortal stared at him for a long moment before letting out a soft laugh. He had expected fear, hesitation, or perhaps even regret after explaining what awaited him.
Instead, Edmond looked more relieved than afraid.
"You really are a fool."
"Perhaps," Edmond replied calmly. "But if she can live without suffering, then I don’t mind being one."
The immortal’s smile slowly faded as he raised one hand. A soft golden light appeared around his fingers before spreading toward Edmond’s soul.
"Very well. Your wish has been heard."
The light grew brighter until Edmond could no longer see anything around him.
At the same time, the memory before Primrose’s eyes began to fall apart.
The burning Holy Temple slowly disappeared into darkness, and when Primrose finally opened her eyes, the first thing she saw was the high wooden ceiling above her.
She was back in the warehouse, meaning she had finally returned from Rose’s memories.
In an instant, her eyes widened and she gasped. Her body jerked upward on instinct, and she immediately sat up on the floor.
For a moment, she could only stare ahead without blinking as she tried to make sense of all the memories rushing through her mind.
Everything Rose had experienced in the past had become a part of her. The pain, the sadness, the anger, and even the precious moments of happiness she had shared with Edmund all felt as real as her own memories.
