Stella's grip on her phone tightened involuntarily.
"If you come, we'll consider that massive life debt fully repaid," Juniper continued smoothly. "That way, we won't have to keep playing this messy game of favors."
Stella sat in complete silence for a very long time.
Finally, she forced out the words. "Alright. I'll be there."
After ending the call, Stella sat paralyzed in her room like a stone statue.
Only after a small eternity did she finally manage to drag herself up to retrieve the package the maid had left for her.
Tearing open the envelope, she found the wedding invitation inside.
It was incredibly plain. The wording was a generic template—no flashy brags, no desperate attempts to show off.
But that mundane simplicity only made the crushing weight in Stella's chest infinitely worse.
A suffocating cramp seized her heart.
She checked the wedding date. It lined up with what Juniper had warned her about.
They were rushing to the altar.
Stella had been living in such an agonizing haze that she hadn't even realized a full week had passed since the three-day deadline.
She had barely set the invitation down when her phone rang again.
This time, it was Laurel.
She answered the call, and Laurel's panicked voice blared through the speaker.
"Stella, what the hell is going on? Why is Joshua suddenly getting married?"
Laurel had just received her own invitation and immediately dialed Stella.
"There's a massive crisis in the Gardner family," Stella murmured weakly. "Didn't you know?"
"Joshua never told me a thing about it," Laurel replied.
