Chapter 529
“Is the pressure okay?” Sean asked, sounding more like a professional masseur than a fiancé.
Charlotte curved her lips into a smile. “It’s perfect.”

His fingers were firm and steady. The massage felt so good that she sank into the sofa, soaking up the pampering from Jersey City’s most eligible bachelor.
Still studying the house photos in her hand, Charlotte said, “Your hom mentioned the wedding date.”
“My mom?” Sean looked over at her with a lazy glance, a faint smile at his lips. “What, did she not pay you enough to call her‘ Mom‘ yet?”
“Our mom. Our mom,” Charlotte corrected quickly with a sheepish smile. “I slipped for a second. Please don’t tell her.”
Sean chuckled. “So what did my mom say?”
“She said the planner checked the calendar and wants us to get our marriage license tomorrow, and that the wedding will take about two months to plan,” Charlotte explained. “Let’s do it in October. It will be fall and much cooler. An outdoor wedding in summer would be way too hot.”
“Alright. Whatever you want,” Sean said, his hands never stopping as he kneaded her legs. “It’s our wedding. You can have it whenever and wherever you want.”
Charlotte gave him a teasing smile. “Then can I have it on the moon?”
“Sure,” Sean said without missing a beat. “People have already walked on the moon. If you really want to get married up there, I’ll make it happen. We’ll go together in spacesuits and have a once–in–a–lifetime romantic ceremony on the lunar surface.”
“You’re impossible.” Charlotte laughed and gave him a light punch. “I was only kidding.”
“”
Not long after, the verdict for Manon’s husband’s case finally came down, and, as expected, they won.
The problem was, the defendant had already fled with the money. Winning the case didn’t make it any easier to enforce the judgment.
For most people, that would have been the end of it. They would have had to accept the loss. But Charlotte had the connections. It didn’t take her long to track down the defendant, Peter Lowe, who was found living it up in a private club.
That same night, Charlotte’s people brought him back to Jersey City.
Manon and her husband rushed over from Harbor City. At first, Peer was determined to play the deadbeat. He knew enough about the law to exploit loopholes. His bank accounts were empty and frozen, and the cash had already been withdrawn and stashed in relatives‘ accounts. He paid for everything in cash or used his family’s cards, so there was nothing the court could
seize.
He refused to return the investment money to Manon’s husband.
Charlotte handed him over to Sean. Under the “persuasion” of Se’s right–hand man, Luke, Peter eventually paid back the full
amount with interest.
Before Charlotte and Sean’s own wedding could take place, Jenny d Matthew tied the knot first.
Jenny took time off for the wedding, which was held in her hometown. She was from a small county about an hour’s drive from Jersey City.
More than half the law firm attended, including Charlotte and Pet.

On the day of the wedding, Charlotte brought Jenny a bouquet of her favorite roses. Knowing Jenny’s love for gold, she had even made a special trip to a jewelry store to pick out a solid gold bracelet as her wedding gift.
When she arrived at the hotel, Charlotte greeted her with a warm hug. “Jenny, congratulations!”
After the hug, she slipped the bracelet and a thick red envelope into Jenny’s hands. “This is for you. Wishing you and Matthew a lifetime of happiness.”
“Thank you, Charlotte,” Jenny said, her eyes welling with emotion “You’ve always been so good to me.
“Just promise me you’ll be happy,” Charlotte replied with a gentle smile.
