Henry perched confidently on a chair, eating with the kind of gusto only a kid could pull off. Once he was full, he grabbed his tablet and started a video call with his uncle.
Cooper checked his watch—there was no way he’d miss his nephew’s very first day of school.
Jennie wanted to come along too. “I want to see our sweetie’s first day!” she insisted.
She’d skipped her usual dramatic makeup, leaving her looking much fresher. Her long chestnut hair tumbled gracefully over her shoulders, and for once, she really did look like a princess.
“Nope,” Cooper said without missing a beat.
“Why not?” she pouted.
“You’d just be a handful,” he shot back.
Cooper had quietly made sure Jennie couldn’t tag along, knowing how stubborn she could be. Before heading back home, he’d even called Owen to secretly get Kristen out of the way. Then he returned by himself.
Mars, whose tailbone had finally healed, and Milka were planning to see their godson off to school, too.
Teddy was already there. Andre shook his head. “The kid’s just starting school. Isn’t this a bit much, everyone showing up?”
Teddy grinned. “He’s basically our ‘firstborn,’ right?”
Andre just rolled his eyes.
Asher showed up next. In the Crescent Park suite, he flopped down, propping his legs on the coffee table without a care. “Andre, where’s your boy?”
When Conner heard everyone was coming, he realized it had been ages since they’d all hung out together. That night, he told his wife he wanted to visit Havenbrook, too.
Annie hadn’t been back in a while either, so she was game. “I’ll take a couple days off,” she decided.
For the first time in her life, little Lizzy boarded a plane and flew to the unfamiliar town of Havenbrook.
Wide-eyed and curious, she blinked at everything as her dad carried her off the plane.
At the Cedillo family’s house, she met an elderly gentleman who took to her instantly.
That afternoon, Lizzy was the darling of the Cedillo family; by evening, she was surrounded by her adoring godfathers at Crescent Park.
Asher spun Lizzy in circles, making her squeal with laughter. “Come on, sweetheart, ditch your dad and hang out with your godfather instead?”
Lizzy was busy gnawing on her tiny fist, drooling on her bib and not the least bit shy. When Andre picked her up, she even babbled up at her Cedillo godfather, “Oooh-waaa~”
With everyone finally together, Anya could hardly sit still. “Auntie, I want to see Lizzy! Can we go, please? Pretty please?”
It was their old tradition: whenever they all got together, they’d sneak off to their secret hideout for a little party.
Annie agreed, smiling, “Okay, I’ll go get Lizzy.”
Now that they were back in Havenbrook, of course, they stayed in their old rooms at Crescent Park.
Annie headed next door to the private lounge, pushed open the door, and found five ridiculously handsome men inside—one looking all bossy, one with a dangerous vibe, one scholarly, one wild, and one who just looked like a clown.
Mars was cradling his goddaughter, making her laugh so hard she forgot all about chewing her little fist, drool running down her chin as she giggled. The moment she spotted her mom, her eyes lit up.
