Sweet Mischief’s Rollercoaster Romance novel Chapter 1663

Lizzy perched on her mom’s lap, one tiny hand wrapped around her own little toes, the other thumb stuck firmly in her mouth.

Her dad tried to hand her a teether, but she just turned her head away and snuggled deeper into her mom’s arms. Her eyelids drooped sleepily as she settled in for a nap.

Later that afternoon, the four adults and one baby girl wandered through the streets of Newtown together.

The midday sun was blazing, and when Lizzy woke from her nap, she burst into tears and wouldn’t stop crying. Annie tried to comfort her for what felt like ages before finally handing her over to her husband. “Here you go—take your daughter out for a stroll.”

Miraculously, the moment they stepped outside, Lizzy cheered up, though little teardrops still clung to her lashes.

That evening, it was time for their friends to head home.

The family of three escorted them to the airport, waving goodbye as they boarded their flight.

Lizzy’s big, curious eyes followed everything. Mars teased, “Hey, want to come home with your godfather?”

Milka stretched out her arms. “Lizzy, come give Auntie a cuddle!”

After spending a whole day together, Lizzy had warmed up to Milka and actually reached out for a hug.

But before she could, her dad gently pushed her arm down and shot Mars a look. “Back off. If you two want a kid so badly, go make your own. Quit eyeing mine. Where are your manners?” Mr. Nettleton, now a proud dad, felt fully entitled to push his friends toward settling down and starting families of their own.

After all, he’d taken the plunge into married life—might as well have some company in the so-called trenches.

It seemed like half the crew dropped by just to see his daughter. “Teddy even reroutes his business trips through Newtown so he can stop in and see my girl.”

Sometimes, Lizzy would still be asleep when her godfather showed up.

She’d wake up nestled in his arms, still half in dreamland, and be greeted with a pile of presents.

As soon as she got home, she collapsed into bed and was back at work the next morning.

Milka knew her way around office politics and had seen every trick in the book. Anya, on the other hand, was new—sweet and clueless, like a bunny dropped into a maze. Milka looked out for her, giving her tips and advice that helped Anya dodge plenty of rookie mistakes.

Once, there was a meeting where someone hadn’t prepped all the required documents.

The person responsible flashed a sugary smile and, in her sweetest voice, threw Anya under the bus: “Anya, remember those documents I asked you to print this afternoon? Did you forget to include the appendices?”

Anya scratched her head. Had she forgotten? Lately, everyone had been asking her to print things, and she couldn’t keep track anymore.

But Anya’s boss, Ms. Jennings, was already fuming. She slapped the table and snapped, “If you can’t handle the basics, why are you even here?”

The coworker who set Anya up quickly jumped in, eager to play the hero. “Sorry, Ms. Jennings. Anya’s new—mistakes happen. Us old-timers should’ve guided her better. I’ll handle the appendices right now. Give me five minutes, please.”
