“No, thanks. I drove here by myself. I can take myself…Wait!”

A thought had suddenly entered Vivian’s mind. Without thinking twice, she quickly asked him, “Luke, I heard you say… Mrs. King, right?”
She was sure that she had heard those words, but she just needed to be sure. Part of her just couldn’t accept the implication behind those words.
“Miss Lambert, it’s better for you to ask Mr. King about it personally,” Luke suggested.
If Anna had been in the office right now, she would have noticed that something was wrong. Luke was a very cautious person. If he wanted to conceal Marcelo’s marriage from Vivian, he would definitely not have called Renee “Mrs. King“. Instead, he would have just called her the usual “Miss Hudson“.
Vivian remained silent as she ran this through her head.
Could Marcelo really be married?
He was married to Renee?
How could this be?
Vivian had always thought Marcelo was not going to fall in love with any woman. But if he ever did, it would be her.
How could it be Renee of all people?
Renee had just walked out of KM Group when she received a call from Catherine.
“Why hasn’t the school issue been resolved yet, Renee? You promised to help me!“Catherine practically shouted, her voice filled with disappointment.
This brought a frown to Renee’s face. With one hand holding the phone to her ear, she entered her car and started it with her other hand.
She responded to Catherine at the same time the engine roared to life, “When did I make such a promise?”
“That day at home,“Catherine reminded her. “You told me you would think of a way!”
She was very desperate. She didn’t want to be expelled from school at all!
“Right now, there’s nothing I can do,” Renee said impatiently and hung up.
But immediately, her mind went to Naomi.
Last time, Naomi had almost succeeded in making Renee pledge to fulfill her birthday wish.
Not wanting to be troubled by her conscience, Renee began to think of a suitable explanation that she would give to Naomi.
But not long after that, Renee received a call from her professor. “Renee, Catherine is making a scene in the dean’s office. I reported it to the Hudson family, but they referred me to you, saying you would take care of the issue. You know, you’re a respected alumnus of the school. We are worried that her actions may affect your reputation. Hence, we hope you can come back to school and address it.”
“Okay, I’ll come over right away,“Renee promised albeit with an angry look on her face.
Catherine was in the dean’s office, crying pitifully, waiting for Renee to take care of the issue for her.

“I believe the teachers should handle this according to school policy. My opinion shouldn’t matter.“Renee quickly clarified her stance. “I’m just an alumna who’s just graduated. I know I can’t interfere with the school’s policies or affect its principles.”
The situation didn’t really allow for any negotiation. The school had only called Renee because the Hudson family kept mentioning her. Rence had left a positive mark on the school and was a respected former student. The school, mindful of her reputation, wanted to let her know about the current situation.
“Renee, you lived a fulfilling life as a Hudson for over twenty years. You can’t be this heartless!“Catherine attempted to grasp Renee’s wrist but Renee easily dodged her.
“You used my achievements to get into this University. You passed off my awards as your own. That was deceitful from the start! And once there, instead of working hard, you chose dishonesty. Today’s consequences are of your own making!“Renee hissed.
Catherine got into the school as a talented student, but she had used fake versions of Renee’s certificates. The Hudsons had also made a hefty donation to secure her admission.
“You just don’t want to help me! Renee, you’re just jealous of my success!” Catherine was stuck in her own delusion. “Have you even thought about what this will do to Nana?”
Renee’s face became somber. “I’ll talk to Nana myself. You don’t need to worry about that.”
The staff in the office were shocked by Catherine’s audacity, using someone to manipulate Renee.
“A student like you can’t be compared to Renee. How could Renee be jealous of you?” a teacher said, almost in disbelief, as if to say, “Are you out of your mind?”
“Alright, this is resolved. Let’s go.“Renee’s professor, realizing Renee didn’t want to continue the interaction with Catherine,
escorted her out.
Once they were outside, Renee expressed her gratitude to Sylvester again.
“Don’t mention it. It is no big deal. We wouldn’t have known about your connection to the Hudsons family if they hadn’t come forward…“Sylvester sighed and gave Renee a comforting pat on the shoulder. “Focus on your own path, don’t let them get to
you!”
Being adopted and then being emotionally manipulated by her adoptive parents and sister was incredibly harsh for Renee. It wasn’t her fault she was abandoned at birth.
“Seems like someone’s here to see you.“Sylvester casually pointed in a certain direction.
Renee noticed Howard at the end of the hallway.
Howard, teetering between his fondness for Renee, seemed slightly winded, as if he had run the whole way. His eyes, bright with excitement, were fixed on her.
With most students in class, the campus cafe was fairly empty.
“Here’s your half–sweet milk tea,Renee. I didn’t get you a cold one since it’s not good to drink too many of those. This one’s warm.” Howard set the drink down in front of Renee.
“Thank you.” Renee took a gentle sip of the milk tea, then inquired, “The post on the forum… That was your doing, right?”
Howard looked surprised for a moment. “How did you figure it out?”
“The student council manages the school forum, and any trending topics are checked by you. My professor mentioned that the post was very detailed, almost like legal evidence. “Renee smiled and gave him a thumbs–up. “Howard, you could be a great lawyer someday!”
“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to cause you any trouble.” Howard felt guilty.
