Elsie nudged Cameron sharply. "Is that any way to talk to a lady? You’re being incredibly rude. Ivy came all the way here to help you out, and you’re already burning the bridge. Don't you think it’s a bit early for that?"

Cameron looked at Elsie with pleading eyes. "Give me a break, will you? We’re out in public—at least let your dear boyfriend keep a little dignity. How am I supposed to show my face around here if you keep scolding me?"

Elsie gave him a playful, reproving look. "Then keep that temper of yours in check and try being a bit more polite from now on."

"Yes, yes, my mistake. I promise to do better," Cameron surrendered.

"That’s more like it," Elsie said, finally offering a small smile. She then turned to the driver. "Please see her back safely. Make sure to be careful on the road."

The professional-looking man nodded quickly. "Understood." He could see clearly now that this girl had his boss completely wrapped around her finger.

It seemed highly likely she would be the future lady of the house. He turned to Ivy and said, "Shall we go?"

Ivy smiled at Elsie. "Alright, I’m heading out. But thank you—honestly, watching you vent all that frustration for me felt amazing. I feel so much lighter now."

"Don't worry," Elsie replied with a grin. "I’ve made it my mission to tame this gorgeous demon once and for all."

Ivy gave her a thumbs-up. "Good luck. I’m rooting for you!" With that, she turned and left.

Cameron looked at Elsie, feigning offense. "You’re really something, you know? Discussing how to handle me right in front of my face. Who exactly is the person closest to you here?"

Elsie gave him a devious smirk. "You’ve got it all wrong. To be successful, one must learn from those who came before. Ivy is technically my predecessor, which makes her a valuable consultant in my quest to keep you in line."
