“Is that so?” Lillian sneered. She turned her gaze toward Lynette. “Did you hear that? You were so desperate to marry him, hoping the child would be your ticket into the family, but he doesn’t give a damn if you live or die. To your master, you’re just a discarded pawn–a ‘waste of resources,‘ as he put it. Don’t blame me. I gave you a chance; he’s the one who rejected you.”

Lynette looked at Lillian with eyes full of terror. “No, that’s not it! He just doesn’t know I’m pregnant yet. If he knew, he would never treat me like this!”

Lillian’s smile turned mocking. “Then tell him. Hurry up and share the glorious news; he’s going to be a father. Such a wonderful occasion. Otherwise, since you’ve lost your utility, you’re nothing more than a human shield.”

Lynette turned her frantic gaze toward George. “Save me! I’m carrying your child! You can’t just abandon me!”

“A child?” George’s eyes flickered with a brief pause, only for a sinister smile to spread across his face. “Do you think I’m that easily fooled? You think I’ll believe a common lie about a

weakness–not pregnancy? Let me tell you something: I don’t allow anyone to become my even a child. To me, anything that slows me down is a burden that shouldn’t exist in this world. So, even if you really are pregnant, you’ll be sacrificed the moment it becomes necessary.”

Lynette stared at him, aghast. “How… how can you be so cold–blooded? This is your own flesh and blood!”

George’s smile remained chilling. “You’ve known me long enough. You should be well- acquainted with my methods by now. I don’t let anything that brings me trouble stick around for long. Do you know why I’ve never married or had children? Because I refuse to give anyone leverage over me. So, Lynette, if you are pregnant, you only have your poor timing to blame.”

Lynette’s face turned ashen. She had truly believed that a child would change him, but she was wrong. This man didn’t have a heart.

Lillian looked at George and let out a cold laugh. “Your sheer brutality and lack of a conscience are almost impressive. No wonder Mildew Corp grew to this size. To be honest, I’ve never met anyone quite as ruthless toward their own kin as you.”

“Is that so? I’ll take that as a compliment,” George said, his voice dropping to a dark octave. “But what a pity. Since you refuse to serve me, there is no reason to keep you around.” He gestured to the men behind him. “Do it.”

A dozen enforcers swarmed forward, lunging toward Lillian.
