Harrison’s steps faltered almost imperceptibly, his expression visibly cold.
In that case, it wasn’t hard to guess why Morgan Lawson had invited him over.
—Morgan, the patriarch of the Lawson family and Naomi's father, had always been dedicated to setting up Harrison and Naomi. He had even publicly stated on several occasions that he already considered Harrison his son-in-law.
It was largely thanks to Morgan that the rumors about Harrison and Naomi were so widespread, with many people convinced that Mr. Harrison Lancaster would one day marry Ms. Lawson.
“Mr. Harrison Lancaster has arrived!”
A servant from the Lawson family came out to welcome him, respectfully leading him inside.
There were quite a few people at the Lawson residence already, and Marcus was surprisingly among them. Besides him, there were several other young people from their circle, all of whom had practically grown up together and were quite close.
Morgan and Mrs. Lawson sat together, welcoming the younger generation with warm smiles. Standing beside them, a striking man and woman drew the eye—Morgan’s children, just returned from abroad: Naomi and her brother, Timothy.
Both were exceptionally good-looking, standing out even among a crowd of attractive young people.
The moment Harrison appeared, nearly every head in the room turned toward him.
“Harrison!” Marcus called out with a wave.
Others also began to greet him.
“Harrison, you’re here?” Morgan said with a friendly smile. “Come, come. Naomi has been talking about you for ages!”
Harrison walked over at a measured pace.
“My apologies for being late.”
