The old man’s chest heaved violently. He rose and slapped Colby across the face.
“You animal! How can you even say these things?!”
Colby didn’t flinch. His head snapped to the side, and he lowered his eyes, a vacant look in them.
At that moment, the lady rushed forward and grabbed Rena. “I treated you like my own daughter! What did the Jones family ever do to deserve this?! How could you be the one who killed Wilma!”
The moment Colby spoke, Rena knew it was over for her.
Now, she had calmed down. Facing Mrs. Jones Sr.’s accusations, she sneered and shook off her hand.
“Treated me like your own daughter? Ha, you say that, but is that what you truly thought?!”
“If you really saw me as your daughter, why did you shower Wilma with affection the moment she returned? Why, after all these years, did you still refuse to hand over the company to me?”
“And another thing! You knew I liked Wayne. If you had just used the Jones family name to negotiate with the Austins, wouldn't I have been qualified to marry him?! But you never even tried!”
“So what if I killed Wilma! If she hadn't died and had come back, would there have been any place left for me in the Jones family? She would have taken everything from me! Including the man I love!”
Mrs. Jones Sr. was overcome with rage, nearly fainting.
