George hadn’t attended the ceremony. He only found out what had happened when Gabriel and Nora came to him in a panic, begging for help to save Queena.
“What did you say? It was Queena who switched the medicine in the Green family incident?!”
“It seems so…” Nora said, flustered and anxious. “Mr. George, you have to save Queena!”
George’s face turned grim, and he violently shoved her hand away. “What else?!”
“What… what else?” Nora didn’t understand.
“Besides this, what other terrible things has she done?!” George roared.
George had always trusted Queena and believed he had judged her character correctly, until Steven’s scandal broke a few days ago, implicating Queena.
At the time, he had assumed she was just young and had been deceived by Steven into making a mistake, so he hadn’t thought much of it.
But then he heard that Queena had helped someone cheat on the Global Harmony Medical Institute’s assessment and had been punished for it.
It was then he realized he might have been wrong about her. But after years of being her mentor, he had given her the benefit of the doubt.
Until now.
Why did he despise Anastasia so much? Why did he admire Queena? The root of it all was the Green family incident!
Anastasia had nearly killed someone, so he loathed her for her disregard for human life.
Queena had miraculously saved Martha, so he praised her as a genius, personally bringing her to Riverton to advance her career, tirelessly planning for her future without asking for anything in return.
However, after countless calls, not a single person agreed to help.
Some were angry after learning of Queena’s true nature; others didn't dare to get involved after hearing about Anastasia’s connections.
“We’ll go beg Anastasia!” Nora said, her eyes bloodshot. “I’ll go to her, I’ll get on my knees and beg her to show mercy and let Queena go!”
It seemed this was their only option left.
Later, as the Lancasters were having dinner, a servant came to inform Anastasia that Gabriel and Nora wanted to see her.
Anastasia could guess why they were there. “I’m not seeing them. Tell them to leave.”
The Lancaster elders were aware of her family situation. Anastasia hadn't hidden what happened at the ceremony and had casually mentioned it while chatting with the matriarch earlier.
