She glared at Anastasia warily. “If it weren’t for Queena, you’d be a murderer by now! Stop slandering her!”
Anastasia ignored her, her eyes fixed on Queena. “You know perfectly well what you did and didn’t do.”
Just then, her phone buzzed with a perfectly timed message. She glanced at it, and a colder smile spread across her lips.
“The maid who worked for the Green family back then… you probably thought you’d gotten rid of her for good by sending her abroad, that you’d never see her again.”
“Unfortunately for you, even after all these years, my people found her and brought her back. She’s already in police custody and has confessed that you instructed her to swap the medicine I prescribed. You can tell your side of the story to the police!”
Anastasia herself was surprised by the timing.
She had recalled the old incident upon arriving in Riverton and had suspected Queena, so she had sent people to investigate.
She hadn’t expected Queena to pull a stunt like this today, nor had she expected the investigation to yield results at this very moment.
At Anastasia’s words, the color drained from Queena’s face.
Her reaction was so obvious that the Greens couldn’t miss it.
Mrs. Green’s stomach dropped. She stared intently at Queena. “Miss Sterling, is what Anastasia said true?!”
Thinking back, she realized the maid who had worked for them for years had indeed resigned abruptly after Martha's incident…
“Queena?” Martha’s eyes widened as she stared at her in disbelief.
Cold sweat beaded on Queena’s forehead. “I…”
Before she could utter a word of defense, several police officers appeared.
